Seems ok on prosilver now. Anyone else?
I can read posts now, but when I click the “reply” button it didn’t work (I had to “quote” you.)
Back up and running!
it’s good now. Thanks!
Hi folks, prosilver-forumosa seems to be working now. I’m sorry for the hiccup.
Please switch back to the prosilver-forumosa theme. The Forumosa theme will be retired in a few months, and the prosilver-forumosa-2 is a test theme that I need to try things out.
If you are interested, here is what I understand to have happened:
phpBB3 uses 2 ways to store the theme templates: hard files and in its memory cache. The prosilver-theme is set for the memory cache.
If I change the code in the templates, I need to “purge the cache” – which means I need to make sure phpBB3 loads the newly changed template files into its memory cache.
It seems things went screwy when I purged the cache around 11pm TST. It takes a while for the system to purge the cache, so when I had started the purge, I stepped away to get a drink of water. The purging process seems to have stopped for some reason while I was away. I suspect this is related to a slow connection that I am on (that’s not a very good reason, but I don’t know why else the purge would leave incomplete templates - at least it seems only the topic pages in prosilver were affected.)
I did not notice the problem because after getting my drink I was distracted and, uh, forgot about the purge – I didn’t check the computer again till about 30 minutes ago when I saw all the messages in my email (sorryaboutthat).
Thanks to all of you who wrote in, and especially those who cleverly posted the solution as a topic title
