"I could care less" in Chinese

I made a random comment in this thread, but got no response.

Are there any expressions in Chinese that are commonly used but logically inconsistent, much like “I could care less”? For instance, what about, 大不了 which I believe means “big deal.” As in, 有小老婆沒有甚麼大不了 which I think means, “Having a concubine is no big deal” but looked at literally would mean something like “Having a concubine is nothing that can’t be big” or “Having a concubine is indeed something very big.” This is all assuming I have the meaning of 大不了 right.

So any other examples? And if there are such examples of gramatically inconsistent idioms, are there anally-retentive native-speakers who frequently say the equivalent of, “Actually, you COULDN’T care less”?

I’m a native-speaker. I’m not anally-retentive. (Well, not usually…depends what I eat! )

All my life I’ve said ‘I couldn’t care less…’ Until I saw it on this board I had never heard ‘I could care less’ for something which you had no strong feelings about.

Where do they say ‘I could care less’?

On the original thread (and not wanting to go over 5 pp) , I think it might be an abbreviation of “Like/As if I could care less” or a corruption of “I couldn’t care less”, or might have its origins in saracasm (“And we LOVE President Bush, don’t we?”). It’s incorrect, of course, but as an American I’m used to hearing it, so it doesn’t particularly rub me the wrong way (even though I’m clearly anal), nowhere near as much as does, say “the ticket line is literally miles long” or “it literally burns me up!” when in fact the usage is clearly figurative.

As for Chinese, how about expressions like 非得 fei1 dei3 (lit. “not must”) meaning “must”? (I assume this is elliptical, from fei1dei3bu4ke3.) And similar is fei1yao4 非要, lit. “not want” meaning "absolutely require, must’.

Could we not have the “I could care less” and “literally” debates again, please? They have already been done in

the other thread.

This thread is for illogical phrases in Chinese.

 Wow! That’s my wrist slapped!

This is one that kept me from getting an eight on the HSK: hao3 rong2yi4, which often means the exact opposite: hao3bu4rong2yi4. I remembered it from the exam and looked it up afterward since none of the answers seemed to fit well.

One of my students sent me this:
