I Love Bob Dylan

Of course. I would like a place where people can post links to excellent Bob songs, or information about him. I hope you can keep your negative thoughts out of this.

I love Biograph, despite its silly commercialism.

I love him too, but I probably won’t be buying his Christmas album.

I, too, love Bob Dylan.

At the earliest possible opportunity, I urge you, one and all, to watch PG&BTK The Director’s Cut, and, if possible, the concert sequences in Renaldo & Clara.
Both show Bobby doing stuff just because he wants to, having real fun and cutting loose, something he could’ve stood to do a lot more over the years.

Billy the kid is amazing. Brilliant soundtrack. Beyond terrible acting. I guess he slid in cos Pekinpah was so drunk. :astonished:
I saw Hearts of fire at 17, there is no way on earth I am ready yet for Renaldo and Clara. Give me a few more years. Maybe when I am 40.

Thanks Tom, I forgot what a great up-beat song Caribbean Wind is. Did not play it for years, but it is now ! In the same sort of rhythm, Changing Of The Guards is one of those great easy songs as well.

My not mentioning Hearts was by no means an oversight.
Poo lady poo…
The only thing you want witn R&C is all the live footage of The Rolling Thunder Revue, which is fucking amazing, it was his first time back on stage since “the accident”, and he’s on fucking fire
Some helpful souls out there in Inkernetland have made available (koffdownloadkoff) JUST the concert stuff with none of the romance horseshit with :loco: Bob as Renaldo, Sarah as Clara, Ronnie Effin Hawkins as Bob Dylan and Ronee Blakelee as (Sara) Mrs. Dylan :loco:
And I’ll bet you haven’t seen the Director’s Cut of Billy, because Bobby’s character makes sense, unlike in the theatrical cut where he was just all like WTF?

Changing of the guards is one of those songs completely tied up in my life. I understand totally what you mean, his voice is almost like it is in Street Legal, and it has that journey type pace to it. He was sorting out Renaldo…during that period too.

Chiefy I’ll look for that rolling thunder stooof. Must confess to never finishing Chronicles. I guess I am more auditory with my love.

Infidels, baby.

Well that sure is one tough album to love. The line ‘no one would marry your sister,’ is in there somewhere. Neighbourhood bully ranks with ‘the spirit of rock n roll (thank you mr wilson)’ in the stinker hall of fame, but then I and I and to some extent License to kill are brilliant.
I saw him do ‘if dogs run free’ live and he managed to make that sound good.

Sometimes Say-tuuuaaaan
Comes as a man of PEEEEssse…

For some unknown unable to voice reason I always think of Infidels as his ‘American’ album. And that is in no way a slur. Its tracks like union sundown, jokerman, sweetheart like you, license to kill. They are American. They just are,

With Mark Knopfler?
OK, Scottish Jew, but still.
No, I know exactly what you mean, it kind of sounds like it should have red, white, and blue bunting wrapped around it like a 4th of July bandstand.
Smells like…cheeseburgers.
NOT that there’s anything wrong with that…

HEY, wanna see something cool?
Go to YewChoob and watch MCR doing Desolation Row from The Watchmen soundtrack, super good fun.
And Daddy, toin it up loud…

ETA: Oh yeah, Sweetheart Like You, his first MTV video, how weird is that??

one minute and 25 in, goodman and dylan, its quality. youtube.com/watch?v=DXfdUGSA … xt_from=PL It’s like Walter is back for one glorious minute.

For a sure-fire anytime of the day funk out, one cannot beat his first album.

Saw Bob live in Amsterdam, last April. It was great. Bob behind the electric organ dominating each song, trying to sing at the top of his voice and the bastard did not even once look to the audience. He had a good band to back him up. Here is an all-time-favorite Desolation Row from that concert.

He is Boston this weekend (3x). I am sure you hard core fans know this website http://expectingrain.com/ where you can find most of his concerts.

I think his albums only get better. These days I only listen to the past decade – I think all of these albums are brilliant:
Time Out of Mind, Love and Theft, Modern Times, Together Through Life

If I listen to the old stuff, it’s strangely – Shot of Love (from his born-again days?). I love the backing gospel singers and maybe it’s the recording, but he just sounds so driven.

Here’s a random Dylan fact I just remembered, speaking of gospel: I think Dylan dated Mavis Staples in the 60s – I remember listening to her talk about him when she was a guest on the NPR show Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me – very funny.

Bob Dylan’s dead? WTF! When did THAT happen?

Naah! I know he’s alive. He bought a house near my folks’ place. They say he STILL hasn’t shown up for karaoke night at the Kingussie golf club, though, despite the free sausage rolls.

I really like Shot Of Love, and I thought Modern Times was, uh what’s the word…charming?

You gotta love the whole Bootleg Series, so much insight into the different phases of his career.

Hey, I got at least two Bob threads that should be spun off from here, I bet you dudes got a bunch too…
What are the chances of getting a dedicated Bob Dylan forum???
I’ll bet Mr. TomHill and Mr. jimipresley would Mod it.
I’d volunteer, but as Mr. Maoman has mentioned many times, I can’t even fuckin Mod myself…

Shot of Love is one of my favourites too. Shot of love, Lenny Bruce, Every Grain of sand (amazing and beautiful) Heart of mine. Just packed with clasics. Combined with possibly the worst album cover ever.

Always been a big fan of John Wesley Harding and Desire.
