Met an awesome girl today that I was introduced to by a mutual friend…
She is a Taiwanese girl that teaches English at a local school and also does private classes at a friends house.
I was introduced to her because our friend thought she could help me meet some 1 on 1 students to supplement my income.
So today we met for the first time and she took me to an elementary school where her students were sitting a big English test.
Had a great day chatting with her students and parents, and also made some great contacts in the local area
I guess I might be lonely… But we really seemed to get on well, and a lot of our attitudes and opinions are similar. She prefers smaller areas such as Taichung county and dislikes larger cities like Taipei etc…
Long (boring) story short… I think I am smitten…
Did I mention that she is also drop dead gorgeous, 31 (so therefore over the hill in Taiwan terms) and single?
I sent her an sms this afternoon thanking her for a nice day, and her reply was kind of dismissive… But then tonight at almost midnight she sent me one saying ‘sweet dreams’ and asking if I could send her a copy of our photos from today
Pointless thread, I know… Just dont have anyone to talk to about this stuff here…
Im going to see her again on Tuesday to sit in on one of her classes and get an idea of what her students are like. I cant wait! Just have to try and stay cool and collected…
Any tips from some of you old pros on here? Do Taiwanese girls have any quirks that I should know about (or use to my advantage?)
From what you said it sounds like a very good start, you will just have to wait and see if she likes you back.
Just try to not do annoying things like going on about ex girlfriends, or revealing some extreme dorky behavior, and don’t be pushy- but that goes for any girl.
My best advice to you is to post here, by all means, just to get it off your chest, but do not under any circumstances get sucked into the negative stereotypes that are about to come bounding your way from the disgruntled masses. And don’t listen to any advice that involves, ‘All Taiwanese women…’ statements.
Go for it. Judge her as a woman, not as a Taiwanese woman, and see if you like her or not. F*ck what everyone else thinks.
If you really want your time and or relationship microanalyzed by the vicious attack dogs on this site, please feel free to post about it here, but first fire off a private message to Quarters and ask him if he’d do it again.

Yep. Forumosa is not just an anonymous cyber-world. You will meet up with a lot of the folks posting here. Anyway, a gentleman should not discuss details of a relationship in public.

JDSmith is really old so he’s got sage up to the wazoo.

:raspberry:
And the WEIGHT of your arguments are hard to deny.
Pubba, I can give you one piece of good advice. Take it Slowwwwwwwww.
My local girlfriends here are skittish as little chiwahwah mice. If as guy goes too fast they run away all horrified.
I thought that especially spring time is a period of new romances, but damn… even Winter time, when people should be inside their home and cozy, some guys fall in love…
Waiting to see the Tuesday eve post of the OP. Bet she is psycho!

HAHA i knew it wouldnt be long… BATMAN BEgins , so to speak
God, do I envy you. Envy the opportunity to feel smitten, and with a gorgeous 31 year old! Nothing like that where I am now.
Good luck.
But you are in Buenos Aires , where a whole bunch of peeps have always been dreaming bout . The great steaks and the AWESOME , sexy and beautiful girls they say.
NOW what are you saying here???>>>>>>>>>>>> argh !
Once again, TomHill cuts through the crap and gives the good advice Cheers mate!
I know its crude to post about relationships on a forum, but this is just the (very) early stage… I would not post anything more than the basic details…
Plus like I said, i dont have my support team of friends and family any more, so you guys are stuck with my blathering
Quarters had a bad experience? Hopefully he will read this and send me a pm. I feel bad prying into his personal life without knowing him, and dont want to open up any emotional wounds, if you know what I mean…
I have only had a handful of relationships in my life, and am definitely no expert. But you cant deny that ‘tickle’ in your soul when something feels ‘right’…
Suchafob - you said take it sloooow and I will do just that. My first impulse is to call her right away and have a chat, to see if there is anything there but thats just stupid… Dont want to ruin it this early in the game!
And it does feel like a game. Maybe ratbrain is correct - I have been brainwashed by reading this forum for the last few months! Perhaps I should go into this without expecting my experience to be the same as others who have sadly failed…
Anyhow. It doesnt rain it pours. Here I was worried after 2 weeks that I have not had any interest from the ladies, and now I have 3 to investigate. Sounds so clinical doesnt it…
This time a month ago I would not have dreamed that I would be in this situation - so for now I will just take it slooow and enjoy the ride
i say you put the whole relationship up to forum decision…at every critical juncture we could vote on how to proceed…could be a lot of fun…
but seriously rush in like a fool…there’s no other way where loves at stake…listen to the ryan adams song “come pick me up” for reference…probably the finest song ever written about the insane rollercoaster ride that is new love…drifts off into reverie about past lovers
the bear - Kind of like a twisted online version of ‘Big Brother?’ Im starting to feel bad about posting even this basic info, so not sure if I will get into any more details in future…!
Buttercup - I have heard this too many times for it not to be true… (the shoe thang)
Luckily I did buy a sexy pair for shoes from Australia before I came over here. Took a while to get used to the 3" heels, but the bright red colour and little bows really get the ladies attention when Im wobbling down the street
Seriously… I need a girl friend here with some fashion sense to help me revamp my wardrobe… Feel like helping out a fashion reject? Ill be in Taipei again from the 4th to 7th
Have one nice pair of shoes, and a pair of cheap ugly Taiwanese running shoes (you know the type… glowy stuff, chinglish words, absolutely no grip at all)
The nice pair are getting worn out very fast. Need new ones ASAP
