I voted

Yeah, of course porn watchers imagine it’s them. In order to do that what most people do is to imagine the guy isn’t even there so the viewer can be in his place. That’s why even in non-POV porn, the focus usually avoids the male actor. If most porn viwer don’t even wanna see the dude’s face, I don’t think they really want to see the dude’s privates either. At the risk of exposing my expertise on the subject, Japanese Hentai would often just draw a transparent male private part, so the viewer can imagine away.

I voted. I haven’t yet received my paper absentee ballot for whatever reason so I got a form online, filled it out, and faxed it. I did this yesterday and it feels so very good to have exercised my voting rights.

I guess many are voting early this time around. Over 10 million have voted early as of yesterday is what I believe I heard on the news.

Why is so much of Forumosa about US politics? Aren’t there other forums were you can talk about it? Do we really need to dedicate a notable portion of the virtual real estate of a forum for Taiwan expats to talk about the US? Why don’t you guys go on Reddit or something?

Uh…this is in the US Politics section.

Be my guest.

With the new version of Forumosa there’s very little sorting of different sub forums any more. Everything anyone responds to comes on the front page.

I didn’t get mine either, so I just printed it out, put it in an envelope and dropped it in the ballot box at the AIT. The place was completely empty.

What’s Reddit?

I wonder why that is? I thought it was maybe the guards at my apartment complex screwing up the registered mail. But maybe the problem is stateside. Anyway, I’m very happy there are alternatives.

There’s a lot, I agree. I think you can ignore some of these threads, can’t you? I mean set things up so they don’t show up. Well at least I didn’t start a new thread.

I think the mailing is timed so that stateside voters can fill out the ballots and return them in time. Expat voters, as usual, were an afterthought.

You can go to your preferences and put the politics section on ignore.

I received my absentee ballot in the mail just before the Moon Festival holiday weekend. Mailed it the following Monday. Got an email from the county registrar’s office that it has been received and is valid. That’s nine days between mailing and receiving the confirmation.

So far in all my years here in Taiwan, I’ve never had a problem with receiving, completing, and sending my ballots.

You may also change it to categories if you wish.

Americans can vote. Wherever they are.

Unless you live in an American territory excluding DC.

I was travelling through SE Asia in 1988, and therc were advertisements reminding Americans to vote (Bush vs Dukakis). There was a Canadian election at around the same time, and, feeling guilted out by all these messages to Americans, I went into the Canadian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur to proudly cast my ballot. After a brief consultation among themselves, they assured me there was probably some procedure in place- I was just the first traveller who had ever asked.

There was a late Feb and April election this past spring for me. Got my Feb ballot the first week in April and the April ballot at the end of June. Even when I lived in Beijing I got my ballots on time! Then I learned you can get the ballot emailed to you if you’re an overseas voter. So I emailed the person in charge of that and was like “you couldn’t even get my Feb ballot to me in a sensible timeframe and that was before any American even cared about COVID.” They ignored that remark and sent me my emailed ballot.

They told me they were sending my ballot, but I guess I should have took the initiative and requested it way way in advance. Oh well. I’ll probably be living in the U.S. when the next election rolls around anyway.

What state are you from?

California. Election stuff gets handled county by county though, and my county is a serious fuck-up.

LA County. Got my paper ballot today. Oh well. That form fillable PDF file, print out to sign, then fax procedure was much better. I’ll probably do it like that from now on.

So I guess we cancelled each other’s votes. Ha, ha.

My pals in US have already voted, dunno about my family though.
