I Want to Know What Magazines People Are Reading

I subscribe to this pretty good magazine called Mental_Floss. It is a very eclectic periodical that has articles on everything from black holes to Mr. Potato Head. It would be a great magazine to have for your next cocktail party or if you are planning a pub quiz. I would like to know who else out there reads this or about other great magazines people are reading.

I’m reading “Private Ibiza DP” at the moment, but I usually just get “Hustler”.

They allow Hustler in the country? You would never get it in Korea. In Japan they would keep it for themselves. :unamused:

Looking at your avatar it should come as no surprise that you read Hustler. Or are you really reading it? :ohreally:

That’s just my on-line persona. I’m actually a big fan of Reader’s Digest.

Yep. He enjoys the articles regarding should the UK have an elected second chamber, or should it be based on heredity.

I saw what you did there.

English version of “Discovery” and also “Scientific American” at my local Eslite book store.

Saw a young woman in Harbin recently with a t-shirt that read “I love porn stars” on the back. I almost broke a rib laughing. I thought of you jimi and waited for her to stand up again to get a pic but alas she was steadfast in remaining seated until I grew impatient and left.

Read this post and thought of this video that I saw. Two porn stars found religion. Jesus loves them. I felt kind of sorry for Crissy Moran though. She is beautiful!

I hope this doesn’t take this thread off topic though. Any Mental Flossers out there?

I would really like this conversation to be about magazines people actually READ :noway: .

Economist. Atlantic. Commonwealth (Taiwan mag). BBC Lonely Planet Travel Magazine. Tons of online stuff.

I still cant finish the dang playboy mag i got after five years, so i finally threw it away. You cant READ those frickin articles cuz you went kinda blind.

Ok seriously, used to read Newsweek and TIME but too depressing, used to read FORTUNE, but who the fcuk cares bout all the riches you wont have, used to read Motor Trend and other car mags but what the heck, you cant have most of em cars, just read em for free at borders.

I do read Flying mag now and then to read bout private jets i will never own or fly. But i am hankering for a Sirius SR20 for 380,000 (them things drop out of the sky regularly tho).

I read the other mags (also free at Borders) bout commercial aviation. Ok to read some articles but not good nuff to purchase the mag.

CAR mag is the bEST car mag out there by the way. EVO is another great car mag. TOP GEAR is not as good.

Pretty funny.
The Economist is the only news magazien worth the paper it’s printed on. TIME and Newsweek are corporate schills of the mainstream media. Time once had a cover article on Japanese Pop singer Ayumi Hamasaki. At the top in small print was a headline about new tensions between Israel and Palestine. That was all the excuse I needed to stop reading it. :raspberry:

How is Harbin in summers?? Still cold??

I like the O magazine, whenever I can get my hands on one. Except, now , it has more ads than ever.

No. nice and warm, high 20s early thirties all the time. Just short sleeves and shorts most days. Nice town. The old street is wonderful. 2km of cobbled street lined by early 20th century european style buildings built by the Jewish community. No cars or even bicycles allowed. Leads to the river where about more parks and walkways are. Ferry across leads to huge park. One need ever get into the modern city or onto traffic clogged streets.

I’d like to come back for the ice festival.

Photo District News, Unearthing Asia, National Geographic, Chinese National Geographic, Asian Geographic.

Fond of the earth are you?

The New Yorker. Harper’s. Simple Living. Purely Delicious (raw food magazine). Real Simple.

@Whole Lotta --> What are you doing with your back issues?

I’d love to read, again. No time. I listen to audiobooks and podcasts for hours on end in the office though. So, I ‘read’ The Economist, Scientific American, Nature, the Walrus…

When I find the time, I check out the New York Review of Books, Virginia Quarterly, the Atlantic, Foreign Affairs…

Always looking for new brain candy, particularly in audio.
