I want to stay home today

I thought “I am going to there” was officially sanctioned English in this country. Everyone I know says it.[/quote]
As is “for xx times”: “I have been to Japan for five times”… No matter how many times you tell them this is wrong, they keep saying it. It must be in the textbooks. :fume: :raspberry:

“Don’t angry” is also sanctioned in the 'wan

Interference, hypercorrection, stuff like that. It’s natural. I think some of these things are passed from learner to learner–e. g., kids saying, “I don’t have do” (i. e., “I didn’t do it”) in one school, but saying, “I have no do” in another. Still, at bottom, it’s natural.

It’s what happens when non-native speakers “teach” a language. :2cents: Don’t forget to close your lights before you go out!
