I won the lottery the other day (Just over a billion NT dollars), and now I need to consider my options/mull my future, etc. Where would be the best place to do this? I sort of have my heart set on Gstaadâs Palace Hotel, in Switzerlandâs Berner Oberland. The Penthouse suite looks very comfortable, and in Gstaad I would be surrounded by lots of other moneyed people, so I wouldnât attract any undue attention. The setting is fantastic, the skiing is great and the apres-ski is better.
Or is there somewhere even better that Iâve missed? Suggestions (with links) please.
I actually stayed in the next village just down the road from Gstaad a few years ago (called Zweizimmen), in Elizabeth Taylorâs former chalet. A beautiful area. Bloody expensive though.
Playing the lottery, like any form of gambling, is a sin against God. To redeem yourself you should give all the money, and every penny you have, to a good cause then go join a religious order and do five years penance.
May I take this opportunity to recommend the Stragbasher Benevolent Fund as a worthy recipient of all donations big and small? Mrs Mao, who is obviously innocent of any wrongdoing, may accompany the the money to a safe place of my choosing where she will be looked after until your return.
If anyone deserved to win the lottery it is maoman. He is so kind, generous, intelligent, and handsome. We would all be lucky to be more like him. Did I mention generous?

Thereâs always Vail. I hear Yalta is a nice place for a long vacation, too, especially since i note that you are constantly writing in the singular above.
A little too big for my taste. I actually was on a private luxury cruise of the Greek Islands once on the MY Christina. It was pretty cool, especially since I was visiting little port towns that I had back-packed through on the cheap only a year and a half before. Rich uncles - every family should have one!
In my fantasy, my wife goes wherever I do, without a word of complaint, and my Sanchong inlaws are lied to about the amouint of cash actually won. Hey, itâs my fantasy. But whatâs up with Yalta? I did a quick search and couldnât find anything better than a four-star hotel. And since when is the Ukraine a hot spot? :s
why go any where? With all that cash you have, you could âhireâ a Taiwanese politician and have them do âconsultingâ work and make Taiwan the paradise you always saw it to beâŚ
You could pay the US debt to the UN and assume their place on the Security Council, then eject the PRC, readmit ROC and have yourself declared President, andâŚ
or you could buy a total stanger (me) a VW Phaeton
Put aside a bit of the winnings to overhaul Forumosaâs infrastructure. Something along the lines of a pair of quad-cpu servers in each of three colo facilities worldwide with real time database replication between them. Yeah, that sounds like itâd do.
