Come on you Canadians and help a Yank out with this one. My nephew is completely into the sport of ice hockey and I want to buy him a gift. Although I keep trying to tell him that the game is not entirely suited for people that pronounce the “u” in, for example, “shout,” he remains obstinate. Is there anyplace in Taipei where I can buy what I’m looking for?
That’s pretty cool. You could teach your son to play. Just make a rink out back of your house…
Just joking.
I’m not sure about where you could find equipment, but I hope someone here has an answer for you.
I’d get him a stick and maybe a net. Use a tennis ball and start playing with him on a tennis court or what have you. If you can get a net then BONUS.
Skates are made pretty good nowadays so you can go cheap. They outgrow them pretty quick.
If it’s equipment you’re after, contact Geoff at Monoclub, info at
monoclub.com.tw
Auiguo East Rd, 20-1, 1F, Taipei, Taiwan

And you can bring him out the Taipei Arena to see some hockey, as welll!

Thanks citizen k for that one. Actually, my older brother lives in Korea but will be coming out to Taiwan soon. I would like get his kids something to take back with him. As for the actual viewing of a game, maybe I’ll take the wife sometime. I hate baseball but loved my two or three times actually going to see a game. Also, I played a bit of indoor soccer back in college so I can appreciate some of the play involved in ice hockey.

In that case, you might consider a Chinese-Taipei national team jersey. They have them on sale at the pro-shop in the lobby of the rink on the 2nd floor at the Taipei Arena.
Good luck!
