Just wondering if there were any recreational skating rinks in Taipei. I heard that the stadium they are building at Dun Hwa South rd. and Nan Jing East road will have skating. Not sure when it opens though.
Thanks

You haven’t discovered the search function yet, have you?
They actually have free skating at the 2nd rink everyday until their official/business opening in October. Five of us went over late at night last week with full equipment and were given half the ice to play shinny on. :bouncy:
Can we rent skates already too?
Nope, byo, unfortunately.
I wonder what their skates are like anywho. Probably have to get mom to ship my old blades over. I’m sure that’ll be cheap.
Well, if it’s anything like the rink in Shijr, they’ll be of the 70’s moulded ski boot variety! Don’t know; they’re not that organized yet. We’ve had a couple organized games there for the opening and they didn’t even have dressing rooms ready. Had to appropriate an office to put our gear on! Definitely only a “soft opening” so far.
Btw, the ice is a-m-a-z-i-n-g! World class in everyway. Quantum leap for ice sports in Taipei.
I tried a search and got nothing useful.
So I guess there isn’t any place to that I can rent skates for pleasure skating then?
Is there anywhere to buy ice skates?
Thanks in advance.

Oh dear, but I just want to skate there, I don’t want to buy skates for the purpose of skating once or twice. Because I still need to hold those walker thingies when I skate.
:help:
Actually, what I wheely want to do is wake up on a Sunday, go down to the rink with some coffee and watch some swooooosh. I like the cold atmosphere and holding a cuppa joe. It’s truly a Vancouver special!
Dang, I miss waking up on cold, sunny winter mornings watching the boys practice!
