ICRT ... what's up with them

Lately Ive been listening to ICRT because I was cleaning up and installing my new computer and couldn’t listen to the Belgian internet radio … everytime I turned it on they were selling a seminar, summercamp or trip to Europe … :s

and playing the same music day in day out that they have for the past god knows how long. aside from the hourly news (which is hardly objective when it comes to taiwan) i cant stomach it.

I like shoutcast. There is no Ron Stewart on shoutcast. My ears are happy. And all the Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Steely Dan, Jethro Tull, Rod Stewart, David Bowie, and Steve Miller Band my widdle heart desires. Sigh. I love internet radio. I had almost forgotten that radio’s not all shit like it is here.

yesterday I heard the Black Eyed Peas “Don’t funk with my heart” on ICRT with the word “funk” censored out of every line with silence. Not just the vocal track but the music also for blips throughout the whole song.

Talk about funny. I would have thought it would be easier to not play it at all.

Class :unamused: Almost as good as when Snatch was shown on one of the local cable movie channels a couple of years ago and they “beeped” out all the F***'s but left in all the C***'s! :loco:

Oh, they censor the word “funk” on radio, but the A-bian (pornagraphic) Tv channels are in almost every household, where teenagers get up 5 o’clock in the morning to watch it in the morning when their parents are sleeping. (I heard many similar stories at the various places I worked at. Schools. Where children brag about their “knowledge”.) Not to mension the rediculous homeshopping ads for breast-enlargement Chinese medicine where woman confess how they are too shamed to face their husbands because of their small breasts!
Not to mention all the pornagraphic VCD’s or vibrators available at your local nightmarket for all children to see.

So, selling sex is okay, but not saying “funk”.

ICRT is a classic example of a station that has no idea what their target audience wants, as it has no idea who its target audience is. It seems intent on back stepping and becoming nothing more than ham radio. Same playlists, characerless DJs (except Kayla) and uninteresting subject material- who really gives a fuck about " a DPP lawmaker was charged with fraud and bribery after being accused of attacking Annette Lu with his Hush puppies"
The station was OK in the mid-late 90’s, but it’s insipidness and lack of chacter has turned it into a joke. Le’ts hope Tim Burghie can do something with it while he’s managing the station.
Until then, Live365 will do just fine!

Totally agree with you about Kayla, she is awesome. I heard her the first time a couple of weeks ago filling in the morning, and she’s hot.

Edit: It’s “Kella” according to the website icrt.com.tw/en/on_air.php?perid=32

Sorry, but IMO it sucked in the mid-late 90’s too. Just not as unbeLIEVably badly. At that time they had a decent news team, and some characters – I just hated most of their music.

Do they still have Jazz FLAVORS? That was good stuff – but I’ve just gotten out of the habit of turning the radio on.

You guys still listen to the radio? How quaint.

Another victim of the local ‘Think Tank’ syndrome!

Yeah, she is the newest & the best DJ by far on ICRT at the moment. She was a DJ back in her hometown Canada, too. Her birthday was just two days ago, by the way.

A comment that stings yet is still subtle… impressive.
