Yes, I think he would try to impose his will on the rest of the country, and he would probably encounter futile resistance. Rather than giving each municipality its own choice in the matter, he would pressure the appropriate officials to carry out his preference for Hanyu Pinyin. Under the former DPP mayor Frank Hsieh, Kaohsiung already began adopting Hanyu Pinyin as well; it is very disconcerting to see all the “x’s” and “z’s” on the street signs in the Ocean Capital. :happybiker:
