Imagine if the Council of Grand Justices overturns the election due to the “mysterious” shooting…what do you think would happen? I imagine every election there would be a shooting to save the underdog and cancel the election. Imagine Lee Ying Yuan challenging Ma Ying Jiu and having someone shot because he only has 15% in the polls. I’m sure that would be the quickest way to downsize government.
There is no way that any Court in Taiwan is going to overturn the election results because of the mysterious shooting. In fact, I can’t believe that anyone could be so stupid as to think so . . . . .
LET US SUPPOSE that the day before the election President Chen –
(1) fell down the stairs and bumped his head, or
(2) was hit by a passing car and hurt his leg, or
(3) (as in the present case) was presumably shot but not seriously wounded . . . . . .
WELL, what does the Election Law say about these kinds of mishaps and accidents in relation to the outcome of the ELECTION?
Answer: It doesn’t say anything.
Hence, there is no legal basis for saying that the Election results should be cancelled because of these types of accidents or mishaps.
Even though it may be true that a number of Taiwanese people voted for Chen out of sympathy . . . . . . . . . still, after all, THAT IS THEIR DECISION . . . . . . . so what right does anyone else have to say that that type of voting is INVALID???
– None.
It is a rather bizarre hypothetical. I don’t think anyone in the judiciary has even for a moment considered such a possibility.
Of course we could start other threads on similarly possible scenarios:
*What if China dropped neutron bombs on every major city in Taiwan?
*What if Lien Chan’s brain was implanted into a locust? Would anyone notice?
*Could Taiwan use the extraterrestrial technology it has to make a REALLY BIG RAY GUN?
Lien Chan is having his little trip to Southern Taiwan to rally support for his presidential election bid next year. I know this is old news, it is time frame that I am interested in. So the pan blues realize that even if there was another election it is still a heck of a long time away.
BTW, has anybody noticed the strange absence of any polls on pan-blue support and how it has changed in the last two months. How did people vote on March 20 and how would they vote now is surely one of the most intriguing of questions. How else can the impact of the pan-blues’ antics be measured. And why has nobody done this? Have those of you who pay more attention to the Chinese press than I do seen any polls (and I discount dumb KMT “polls” saying 67% of people think the election should be re-run, and their ilk)?
Last I heard Soong’s approval rating was down in the twenties and Lien was faring no better. Some people are saying Taiwan is split 50% 50% on cross strait policy, but actually a lot of people voted Lien Soong for other reasons, like economy or they thought it would be a winning ticket.
I don’t think the election could be overturned at this point.
- DPP conspiracy at play. Man behind the curtain stuff.
But I think the real reason is because the leaders are aware that if the overturn did occur the DPP supports would go into the street like the KMT supporters 2 months ago. Chaos would ensure…Then the threat the PRC sending forces to pacify us would be real.
I like live with another lack luster 4 years and just wait for the impeachment process to start shortly after Dec, 2004…
Goddam ac you are funny…

Now, if you can’t explain it logically, then you can always talk about “conspiracy”.
Now they are worried about that??? But they did try to do the same and provoke the same 2 months ago, those traitorous scumbags. No the real reason to that they can’t overturn the election is that it legitimate, and as such impossible to overturn by any legal peaceful means.
Given the fact that mad dog soong, and wolly Lian have alienated most of their non-core supporters, you are looking at a DPP dominated legislature after December. Look forward to the following improvements:
-
Truth and reconciliation commision directed against former KMT butchers etc.
-
Tle Legistative yuan taking over the KMT headquarters, which is built on stolen land btw.
-
Passage in the legislature of many of the projects held up by the blue goons now.
-
Movement toward a new constitution. Let’s get rid of Sun Yatsen’ garbage pocket philosophy.
-
A stronger anti-corruption drive.
-
Direct attack on all the drug money and extortion money assembled by the KMT over the last 50+ years.
Mr. He,
Democracy is dead on the island. We are no better off than the Philippines now in terms of government status. CSB been blaming the KMT for all his personal problems in the media. I have never heard him once thank the KMT for the legal education or establishing the infrastructure which he is aquiring his wealth now.
Sure once you establish the fake assassination commision I’m sure the KMT will reciprocate.
The day you hand over your deed to the aboriginal people, I’ll be right behind you…laughing. The DPP is using the same leasing trick to make money now too.
Address the 3 connect issue and I’m sure the blue team with reciporcated on enforcing the plastic bag and plasitc utensil issue. Or do you want Blue support on the overhual of the education system to teach the Nazi version of Taiwan history.
Pres Chen sure look stupid that day in front of Dr. Sun protrait. I’m sure he’s dreaming of the day his portrait is up there. Just like LTH dream. Guess what it will always be a dream. Because their philosophy is garbage. I’m just waiting for CSB book “LTH and me” or “Little red book of A-bien: Da Bien”
That’s a joke CSB would have to hand over all his wealth that he accumulated in ROC and in the overseas Chinese community. His wife would definitely look funny in prision in a wheelchair over insider trading issues.
How else did you think Taiwan could afford to buy off the USA and 25 other tiny countries to our side. This is hilarious so all the woes are KMT fault in the now. DPP should look to themselve to see where half the problems on ROC comes from. They are the most inept bunch of international statesmen I have ever seen. The Straits issues would not be so screwed up if the DPP would face reality. The CCP that kicked the KMT out of the mainland is not the one dimensional.
Acid_Dropping.
Democracy dead? explain, it seemet very much alive recently, and looks to me like it has never been better. Surely, just you stating that democracy is dead can’t be taken seriously.
The assasination commision has been established and world renowned forensics expert Henry Liu has ruled out that the assasination was fake, so yes, the KMT should start to let the people know that went on under their rule. However, I don’t think they will, as it will be suicide.
Me handing over ded to the aboriginals - not much paperwork showing the aboriginal ownership, as they were expelled some 200+ years ago. Ample paperwork available to people wanting to documet the KMT land grab.
What is 3 connect? What I thought about was the tilting trains on the east coast, the airport MRT, a better curriculum in the schools instead of the mindless propaganda taught now (you are a shining example of what that produces), and passage of the 10 big infrastructure projects.
sun Yatsen was a plagiator and his ramblings are worthless, but read well in Chinese. CSB could come up with something better - but he’s too smart for that. Put president Lee there instead, as he in contrast with Sun Yatsen actually accomplished something worthwhile.
President Chen is a great deal less corrupt than the KMT, if at all. His wife has been cleaned, but the KMT people and the people you seem to take your cues from might end up in jail - and Taiwan will be better for it.
Blaming the DPP for not kowtowing to China… Yet another acid drop. The support Taiwan is getting from the US now is not built on drug money, but on democracy. Try to look that up in your dictionary, if you have one. The straits issue would not be so screwed up if China was sincere.

AAAIIIIEIEEEEEE! IT LIVES!!
Are those violins I hear. got a hanky ac? you’re making me teary eyed over here. let me explain this to you, moaning and crying is NOT the way rational and intelligent people deal with losing, I think you’ve been watching too much Lien and Soong on TVBS.
By the way, how is it that the utterly inept DPP you constantly tell us about was able to put this stunning conspiracy together? doesn’t say much for their opposition
So they’re accepting the truth simply out of a desire to behave responsibly? Funny that didn’t occur to me
Enjoy the wait, don’t let us know how it goes
Oh well, so much for peace and quiet. I was rather hoping dropout had been squished by a gravel truck.
I thought we were ignoring this troll anyway :s

That just encourages them
Seriously, I’m just doing my part to help ac exceed his posting limit again
maybe tomorrow I’ll ignore him. but today the chance to rub his nose in the finality of his defeat was too much to resist.

oh, I was sorely tempted let me tell ya
LOSER :raspberry:
Sorry ac, temptation got the better of me again… paisei
hsiadogah,
A KMT supporter squished by a blue truck. DPP supporters must be quick learners.
daltongang,
My violin music is not as loud or obvious as Pres Chen’s, you know everytime he mentions his wife, or God, or him being the messiah figure of TI.
Mr He,
Oh please the support was built by rich oversea Chinese lobbying Washington. Yes we overseas Chinese were reknown drug dealers. We wish we were at least as famous as the UK. Maybe we would have annexed Hawaii already.
I’ll look up those words when LTH and Pres Chen look up the word Japanese Sympathizer.
Oh yeah like his speech on May 20th was full of visionary ideas. It was as wet as the rain. Drip, drip, drip…Da Bien believes…Drip, drip, drip…Da Bien wants…Drip, drip, drip…Da Bien stinks.
Yeah like faking his own assassination. Claiming the KMT tried to poison him and ran over his wife. Claiming he too handicapp to serve in the military. CSB was in the right place on May 20th. Below and between Dr. Sun legs. That’s where you usually find Da Bien.
The most effective black gold prosecutor was Ma Ying Jiu a stauch KMT supporter. CSB is like LTH now, just looking to enrich himself while in office, they’ll play lip service to the TI constiuents and that’s about it.
The only thing Henry Liu ruled out is that Pres Chen didn’t shoot himself. However, all other circumstances surrounding the shooting points back to CSB as being complicit in the events.
ac… stop… ac… oooooohhhh, so funny… this stuff just gets better and better.
:raspberry:
Ma Ying Jiu tried to go after a bit of the corruption, but put up a show of resigning instead. Henry Liu DID rule out that the assasination was staged, and you should know that, so please stop lying.
Lee Denghui and Chen Shuibian have both done a great deal more for this coultry than the people you admire have even aspired to. The rumors about Chen Shuibian’s corruption are exacly that - rumors put up by the most corrupt political party in the world, your party the KMT.
When it comes to the assasination attempt in 1984, then it took place after the election, and it was most likely a KMT acid drop means to kill him.
Your stupid “Japanese” thingy on Lee Denghui and now the President as well are as far removed from reason as you are from sane debate. When you say that Lee Denghui and the President are japanese symphatisers, then what are they doing in order to make their symplaties felt in Taiwan? Meeting up at night in a cave somewere eating sushi and reading manga? Plotting to turn over Taiwan to Japan? Just say that they like Japan is not valid anywhere as an argument, except perhaps in a very garbled brain unable to handle the facts.
The only thing stinking here apart from Acid_turd is James Soong (a strong whiff of corruption excrement oozing from him), and the perennial looser Lian Zhan, who carries a pro-China stench as strong as any.
I like the fact that you did not like the President’s inaguration speech. Moderate, well-balanced, as a matter of fact better and setting a better course than any of sun yatsen’s incoherent ramblings, which were an unsavory plagiatory mix of socialism, liberalism and a bit of traditional chinese confucianism for good measure, spiced with the notion that the KMT (read sun yatsen) should have dictatorial power during a “transisional” period.
I pity one brought up on it and believing it.
Oh, I am the last guy trying to take acid_crybaby seriously. Wenn, I think that Hsiaodogah and AWOL are expressing things much better than I am. Cheers to them!
Do you think AC really believes the things he types? I mean, like really REALLY believes, not just really believes?
I thought the main reason that there will be no overturning of the election result is because the Greens won more votes than the Blues. That is how it works, isn’t it?
What’s up with the recount anyway? Heard / read that most of the invalid votes were just that - invalid, the next highest portion were intended Green votes, and finally, coming in right at the end, in last place, at the back, up in the cheap seats, getting a nose-bleed, unable to see the playing field, holding their breath and not playing until everyone says sorry and means it this time, are the Blues.
