If you hate Taiwan, why did you marry a Taiwanese?

From a lot of the posts here, seems a lot of people here hates Taiwan.

So why did you decide to come to Taiwan, marry a Taiwanese, and adopt the local custom?

I would guess that most people grew to hate taiwan and were not born with the condition.

Also I think people come on here to let off steam and thus talk about the negative aspects is more common than talk about the positive.

For instance, most people aren’t very likely to talk about their SO’s being sweet and lovely 90% of the time, but they will talk about the 10% of the time their SO is a bumbling idiot.

Because my wife is hot and adorable, and because we don’t live in Taiwan.

So there.

I unconditionally love Taiwan and everything about it. Can I stay?

I love Taiwan even more than Taffy. Can I be president?

I didn’t marry a Taiwanese. Can I have my ice cream now, please?

I love Taiwanese…women. Can I get half a passport now?

I hate ice cream, but I like most dairy products.

Seriously, though, OP - hate is a very strong word. Do you have any examples of posts where people clearly show hatred for Taiwan? Such as suggesting that it would be OK if China annexed the island, or something similarly nasty and anti-Taiwan?

Because she is the best woman I have ever met and will never even think of leaving her of my new home, Taiwan.
It’s nice to have a real loved one and a truly free country, even with their sometimes stupid new and shortly enforced laws. All in all, this is the best, absolutely best, country of 35 or more that I have visited.
HOME SWEET HOME!

I can’t point to a specific post, but numerous threads seems to indicate a general dissatisfaction about Taiwan. For example threads that talks about how hypocritical Taiwan media is, etc.

If I was back home I’d be getting on forums and slagging off about all the dickheads I met today, the stupid conversations, the bad service, the dumb drivers, the asshole boss, etc. Doesn’t mean I hate the country. I just hate the idiots. Why should I change just because I live in another country? Should I become an obsequious toady just because I’m a foreigner in another land?

If I complain my cho dofu was not stinky enough doesn’t mean I hate the country. Fcuk, I don’t even hate the vendor, I just think he’s lazy and suffers from a severe case of chaboudouism.

But that’s not hate. My missus complains about me all the time, but she doesn’t hate me (at least, I don’t think she does  )

I read this study the other day, about negative posting on the internet.

Are you trying to make a connection between marrying a Taiwanese and hating Taiwan? Because I don’t get the connection.

Also he seems to assume that most people here on the forum are married to taiwanese. Or at least all those that hate taiwan… or maybe its: “if you hate taiwan, why did you marry a taiwanese?” meaning “no one here hates taiwan” and therefore “no one here is married to taiwanese”

About hating certain people but not the country. Same thing is true for Bavaria and France. The countries are certainly great but the people living in them not so much.

wow. That sucks.

Ooops.

Right. If anything, the connection should be marrying a Taiwanese and hating marriage.

I don’t hate Taiwan, I hate marraige. Thus, I am not married. But I do like Taiwanese.
