Anybody here had one?
I had one like literally 10 minutes ago. 5 coppers came round wanting to check my ID and such. I shit meself at first, paranoid thoughts swam through my mind that I was going to get nicked for online piracy (I’ll hold my hands up and admit I’m notorious for downloading movies, tv shows, music etc) 
All above board with mine and my girlfriend’s ARC so nothing to worry about on that front, 5 coppers did seem overkill, mind. Have they had problems with illegals resisting and stuff in the past?
Did this happen in your home?
It’s a home crossed with office/shop.
Basically it’s my girlfriends employers office but, with bedrooms where my girlfriend and another Indonesian worker live rent free. I live my girlfriend in it. Helps keep the costs down.
Is your girlfriend Indonesian? If there were two Indonesian looking people living in a building and they knew about it or if someone in the neighborhood got suspicious or pissed off about something they might have called in a raid. This seems to happen more often with the foreign laborers, Filipinos, Indonesians, SE Asians in general. Police will stop them and check their ARC just randomly. Doesn’t seem to happen to white folks that often.
She is Indonesian. The shop/office employees I think 4 Indonesians, only two live in the apartment.
Basically they came round, asked if I spoke Chinese, when I said no, the one who spoke English asked for my ID. I mentioned I lived here with my girlfriend and they asked for hers.
Then he asked for my cell phone number, gave me his card and said if I had any questions or anything to contact him. I asked if it’s about immigration and he said yes.
Indonesian women are pretty great. Anyway, the raid was almost certainly because there were multiple Indonesians living in one place. I don’t know how often this kind of thing happens to them, but they are much more strict with them than white people. What I figure is that someone at the police or immigration office found out of multiple people living at the same place and went to investigate because they had nothing better to do. That or a nosy/suspicious/racist/pissed off neighbor called it in.
I’ve only seen it in bars and I’ve.always talked my way out of it without ID. I would say neighbours or curious cops.
