What’s last year’s revenue? Is it more than the 10 million NTD required to sponsor a foreigner’s work visa?
Does the company come with any property / recurring customers / intellectual property or are you selling only the shell company?

I am selling/Transfering my company because leaving Taiwan.

A foreigner can create a new Taiwan company, invest 500k NTD, sponsor themselves for an entrepreneur open work visa (which they are not eligible for with an existing company like yours), and have a company with a clean fresh record. Why would they buy your shell company for 3m NTD?
I think this would only be beneficial for those foreigners who are not able to create a Taiwan company or open a Taiwan business bank account? But just a word of caution, a Taiwan business purchase by a foreigner needs to go through Taiwan’s investment committee approval, the same as a fresh new Taiwan company. As the new responsible person you are also liable for any past fraud issues with the company, so it should go through a review of all past bank passbooks, annual tax reporting, VAT filings, contracts, etc.
Why don’t you just shut down the company? Why do you feel a shell company is worth 3m NTD?
I was going to ask what your accounts are for the business and if you have current clients they buy a product on a long term basis. But now you said you have done no business for past 5 years and have no assets then really not a business with even a turnover.
I’ve thought of selling my existing business… I have long term clients with long term ongoing relationships. My company has assets and contracts where my clients pay annual service fees. Some of the equipment in my business is owned by my clients as I host their gear in Taiwan.
I would want to get what my profit margin is over 4 years and that is documented with contracts and bank statements. Also I have a CPA that does my company accounts.
Selling a company with no business no assets for a shell license really as @jimbob132 says has no value. It does not matter how much you invested into your business to get it started. Only what assets and income it has now which is nothing. 50% of nothing is still nothing for ROI. Does the company even still have any of the funds used to get the license?
My MIL has a company she is shutting down. Her accountant advised her to keep it dormant instead of shutting down because its trading history/bank accounts etc are worth something. I couldnt understand why that would be worth something but apparently it is.
I did this for $15000 US as a foreigner. For a permanent resident, they can do this for free.
How would a dormant company be able to sponsor a work visa? Which work visa are you referring to?
My company is alive and active. I haven’t closed it.
Let’s say if you start your own company ask government or CPA how much money you need to start the company?
Foreigners who want to start import Export company in Taiwan they have to wire funds in taiwan in a Bank your CPS assigns.
Funds should be wired from your personal account in which ever country you are citizen of.
When I started the company in 2002 I wired funds from India I am citizen of.
I never required work visa because I have Taiwanese wife.
I already had ARC
Back to my company, since I had ARC my wife name is in ARC.
After I wired funds to Taiwan my CPA formed a company for me in 4 weeks.
I could open company bank accounts, got credit cards, NHI
Many other facilities, etc.
You can ask any CPA what I wrote above.
If you are in Taiwan already and want to buy running company from me, your cpa will guide you.
According to my CPA I can sell my company to any buyer who has ARC or APRC.
By, the way I got APRC long ago based on my business and personal record.
I invested NTD 1 million in my company so cost of my company is NTD1 million.
I heard you can start a company in Taiwan for NTD500, 000.
I am not sure, you have to ask your cpa.
Consulting charges with CPA varies.
Hope above information will help you.
By the way what is your nationality?

A post was split to a new topic: Where to Find Businesses for Sale in Taiwan
I did it. I brought in $500000 TWD. Paid my CPA. Bing Bang Boom Done. Didn’t even have to spend the $500000 TWD.
That was the cost to you. It’s not the value of your business to other people. If you’re serious about selling, you need to take a realistic view on what it’s worth - to make it attractive, you’re going to have to price it within the same ballpark as setting up a company here from scratch; and yes, that’s a bit of a ballache, but not the horrific ordeal you’re making it out to be.
The only thing of value in your company is its longevity, but I’m not sure if that amounts to much. Even a contact book and a business address would be worth more than that. Have you considered paying for a CPA to assess its true value?
You can do it with $1 NTD capital contribution and ~15k NTD for a CPA to handle the application process for a foreigner.
Your company wouldn’t be able to sponsor a work visa for a foreigner if they bought it so you shouldn’t say they can get it or be eligible for NHI if they bought the company. Anyone with ARC is eligible for NHI. Your company cannot provide an ARC since an existing company needs 10 million NTD previous year revenue to do that.
Import/export license - you can apply for an English name and import/export license yourself online for free. This allows you to import/export online / consulting services.
The company license may be active but it has not conducted any business for over five years and has no customers no turnover no assets.
You are asking people to pay 1 million for a company license. Most people on this forum have APRC JRFV Gold Card or Taiwan ID.
They can get an enterprise license with NT$50,000 investment.
@jimbob132 certainly has a company with existing long term clients and financial records to prove turnover assets and profits. This is what I would need to see if I was looking to buy his business or be an investor in his business. I believe though he is like me and does not want business partners.
Then one would have a starting point to negotiate. You on the other hand have nothing to offer. What you invested to start your business does not equate to the market value you are asking for.
I did a consulting license with import export in 1988 but foreigners at the time could only own 49 percent of a local business and required 4 other ROC partners.
Mine is import Export business I can do all otter business which Taiwanese do
I started restaurant business also.
Many people on this forum can do the same without needing to invest 1 million for a company license.
I can do any business a Taiwanese can do. Those foreigners who have ROC partner can do the same.
I’m currently doing the last steps of opening a company, and I’m done with the CPA and it’s not exactly as you wrote above.
You’re advertising to foreigners without an open work permit but they can open a company and get their work permit with 500 000 NTD + some fees for the CPA but definitely less than another 500 000 NTD. Maybe there is some value if it’s possible to revive the actual business you were doing but 5 years is not a short time and most of your clients/contractors probably moved on to do business with other companies. Also as jimbob132 said, this company can’t provide an ARC since it’s an existing company so the requirements are different than opening a new company with 500 000 NTD capital so, I’m not really sure to who you’re advertising to.
As for the people like me who have an open work permit, I did everything on my own and it’s possible for less than 10 000 NTD. A couple thousand for the application fees, bank deposit, capital can be as little as you want, and my CPA asked for 5 000 fee for the capital check. It’s also an import export business, and I can do any business a Taiwanese can do. The bank I used for the capital deposit was also not assigned by anyone.
Good luck friend
