One of the recent versions of AdAware (v1.02) has a serious security flaw. Anyone who has downloaded it should immediately download and install the updated v1.03. Using the web-update feature from v1.02 WON’T FIX THE PROBLEM.
The article says it doesn’t affect the free-ware version, since that doesn’t provide active monitoring:
“Ad-Aware SE, the free version, lacks the active monitoring feature and is not likely to be affected by this vulnerability.”
Spybot is free and includes active monitoring.
I have Activeware 6, but not SE. Do you recommend downloading SE?

The free version of Spybot found all sorts of junk that the free version of Adaware missed.
And the free version of Spyware Doctor finds even more junk that those two don’t. And man is it fast! You can find it at download.com. Unfortunately, the free version doesn’t allow for definition updates.
