In a bit of a bind here

Hi, everybody. As the title says, I’m in a bit of a bind. For the last six months, I have been without an ARC (I can get an ARC, but for the first 4 months, the school I was working for couldn’t get me one, despite their assurances that they eventually would). Now, the same thing happened with another school. I know, I know, but I was desperate. Anyway, my new visa is only 14 days long. After my last ARC, I overstayed and couldn’t get in visa-free until July 18th of this year. I was just wondering if it would be possible to come to TW in July of this year and try to get an ARC then, or do you think I’m blacklisted?

Thanks in advance

If you overstay your visa, you can not get visa free entry for a year.

This in no way stops you from getting a new visitors visa and entering on that or getting an ARC

I overstayed, went to HK, got a new visitors visa, came back, got a new ARC.

Remember, you need a visa to be able to change it to an ARC. So if you arrive visa free, you’ll be off to HK before you get an ARC.

Actually they can refuse to give you a visitor’s visa on account of an overstay if they are in a bad mood/don’t like your face/don’t like the mainland visa in your passport or whatever gets their goat on a particular day. It happened to me in Singapore when applying to come back to study. My girlfriend had to pull out all the stops to get them to change their minds. But they won’t refuse you a visa if you can show that you already have a job lined up when applying for the visa.

I overstayed a couple of days on my old arc and so they made me write an ‘I’m a naughty boy and promise not to be naughty again’ letter on a blank piece of paper in Hong Kong. It was quite sweet really. They gave me a visa after that.
