Infernal Affairs

Anyone here an Infernal Affairs fan? I am referring to the movie, not the ROC government. I just saw part three in Hong Kong this weekend. Has it hit the theatres in Taiwan? Part three was good, but very different from the previous two. It was quite hard to follow, and I’ll have to watch it again. Actually, I think that while all three movies are related, they all have their own flavour and mood. I’m glad Tony Leung was recognized at the Golden Horse Awards. I wonder if the first Infernal Affairs will be nominated for best foreign language film at the Oscars. Everyone in Hong Kong is hoping it will.

I watched Infernal Affairs (#1) this weekend, but the subtitles were very difficult to read in places. Does anyone know where I can get a transcript of the screenplay?

Thanks,

Scott

Locate the local distributor of the film and ask them.

Was it on TV or DVD? Does the DVD have English subtitles?

i saw all the trilogy. the dvd wording was fine.

Anyone know if the DVD of Infernal Affairs has English subtitles?

I wouldn’t know for sure, but it’s a Hong Kong movie, so I’d say the odds are 99.9% assuming it’s an ‘official’ DVD  As far as I know, Hong Kong movies almost invariably have English subtitles, even when they are screened locally in Hong Kong. I don’t know why - perhaps something to do with English being one of the official languages for so long.
And on top of that, DVDs usually have a few language options anyway.

I remember it having English and Chinese subtitles and Mandarin or Cantonese sound. Watch it, I loved it. 2 is ok, 3 is kind of weird, a bad copy of momento, if you know what I mean…but still worth watching

It has English subtitles, and they are professionally done, as opposed to the usual Hong Kong movie subtitle hilarity that we often see.

I will be off to buy the DVD, especially after I learned that Elva plays in there.

Thanks for the help.

Hahah…well, Elva just plays the stupid little ex-girlfriend. She shows up for one or two minutes only…=)

Thought I resurrect this thread as I justed purchased the new double-DVD release that has English subtitles.
First disc contains the movie with 3 language tracks (Mandarin, Cantonese, DTS5.1) and the 2nd disc contains extras only, mostly in Chinese.

The DVD has a silverish cardbox packing and costs NT$399 at FNAC.

By courtesy of Rascal, I finally watched Infernal Affairs (I) two weeks ago. Took me quite a while to understand what was going on. But I finally got it. Nice movie

Has anybody seen the alternative ending? Anybody in with me that it is better than the soapy one in the theater version? (Rascal probably prefers the theater version because it shows Elva shedding some soapy tears :s)

Iris

Rascal, did you buy the dvd for Internal Affairs 3, or #1?

I bought Part 1 and recently watched part 2 on rental DVD. Haven’t seen part 3 yet.

DVD has been available for all 3 installments for some time now. I got them in Hsinchu some months back. I’m sure you can find them in most DVD stores.

In the first movie they should have had an alternate ending where both guys died.

Watched the trilogy last weekend for the first time. My only complaint was they jumped around a little too much, going back and forth in time. If you missed a minute or two, you’d be totally lost. Otherwise I liked it. Gotta watch it again to really catch everything.
