Injured bird seen in our community/apartment complex, anything we can do?

We just saw a pigeon lying on a small wall near within our community building area. Its one wing seemed broken and it could not move. We called the security people but they said they can’t handle it and suggested us to wait until it flies off.

I’m not sure how it can fly off when it does not have a wing! We kept some water near it (in a small container).

Is there anything else we can do?

Put it out of it’s misery? It’s certainly not going to heal by itself.

You can take it to a vet. They may be able to do something. Might charge you for it, though. If your conscience clears it, you may do what someone else has said.

It’s a tough one
Nobody wants to help a pidgeon
Even here in calif the spca will help a dove but not a common pidgeon

Taiwanese eat them probably best to tell a local

Though in Chinese, the Wild Bird Society of Taipei (WBST: http://wbst.org.tw/english/wbst_en.html ) has some information.

What happened? Was it saved?
I once picked up a pigeon sitting in the in the middle of the road and took it to a big park.

Pigeons are tough birds, if kept alive by feeding and giving water to drink it would probably heal.
That said, pigeons are a delicacy to some.

If they crash against a window, they probably will break every single bone and bleed to death. From the outside, you think they are OK, but it is dead man walking.

No idea. We didn’t see it the next morning there. Vets in the nearby area were all closed.
