Although the purpose any ranked choice system is to promote multiple candidates elections, like the one when Andrew Yang ran in.
I just saw all the candidates in the Democratic primary. There are 9 candidates, which is great. Cuomo is favored in first round, but maybe the other candidates can make things interesting in the subsequent rounds.
I think it’s going to be close. Cuomo is severely flawed.
Looks like Cuomo will go down at the moment with 70% first round votes in.
Unless a candidate has over 50% of the vote, I guess the next few rounds could still surprise us.
Not likely under these circumstances. The other candidates are also progressives and are locks to favor the frontrunner Mamdani in the later rounds. He’s currently a 99% favorite in the betting markets. Most reckonings figured Cuomo needed a 5% lead in the first round to take it, and he’s down by 7% with 87% of votes in.
That’s beauty of RSV or any sensible voting system. Your side won’t lose just because there are many candidates with the same position.
Mamdani and two of the other main progressives co-endorsed, which was interesting.
Making elections better by giving the people more options with less polarization.
Candidate | Share of votes |
---|---|
Zohran Mamdani | 43.5% |
Andrew M. Cuomo | 36.4% |
Brad Lander | 11.3% |
Adrienne Adams | 4.1% |
Scott M. Stringer | 1.6% |
Zellnor Myrie | 1.0% |
Whitney Tilson | 0.8% |
Michael Blake | 0.4% |
Jessica Ramos | 0.4% |
Paperboy Love Prince | 0.1% |
Selma Bartholomew | 0.1% |
All the other candidates gets 20% first round votes, and they could totally decide the election. But as @tempogain pointed out, most of them are also progressives that endorsed Mamdani, so Mamdani is already the presumed winner.
That’s how I want politics to be like.
lol?
Hey, let’s name our kids after our first part-time job in college + a few cute innuendoes.
How about:
Burger Flipper Ass Pie or
Uberdriver Dry Hump
How would the parents know what the kid’s first part-time job would be when naming them?
I mean the parents first job. Similar like its popular naming kids after some locating, city or favorite fruit or something^^
But its special for sure.
My first idea was something like plumber or janitor.^^
Plumber Jackson^^ sounds cool
I think Paperboy changed his own name to match his first part time job.
If someone’s first job was a stocker at a grocery store, he could be
Stocker Stealth Stalker
What if your first job is a teenage prostitute?
Then your name would be Teenage Prostitute Bumblebee or something.
You made me do that.
