In Thailand the interest rates are quite high compared to most Western countries. How about the interest rates in Taiwan? At CIMB Thai the interest rate is 2% for a THB savings account and 2% the same for a 6-month fixed deposit USD account. Are the interest rates for NTD and USD accounts in Taiwan lower or higher compared to Thailand? I’m struggling to find English websites of Taiwanese banks with the current interest rates that’s why I’m asking.
If you are hoping to make money off of bank savings forget it.
Even a high interest of 2% is still lower than the rate of inflation, which is a little above 3%.
IMO you’re better off with some kind of low risk, long term stock market investment. Such as big companies that would never go out of business and have a good track record of corporate honesty.
For 2019 the inflation rate was 0.71% in Thailand and 0.55% in Taiwan. My father has lost a fortune in the stock market in the 1970s and 1980s and told me not to buy stocks at all. How do you know that bigger companies won’t go bankrupt? Lehman Brothers just went bankrupt about 12 years ago.
How do you know banks won’t close either? Your savings go the same place stocks go when they close

Of course banks can become bankrupt as well but isn’t the risk much higher if you buy stocks instead depositing money into a traditional bank account?
7-11 prices indicate otherwise.
Depends on the stock. Some companies have much stronger financials than banks. The only real way to go bankrupt with stocks is if you gamble with it and borrow money on margin, sell too soon out of fear at a loss or short stocks. It’s very very very rare for companies to go Bankrupt or get delisted. If you’re afraid of single stocks going bankrupt you can buy an index of 500-1000 high performance companies, mixed with internationals by the rare chance 1 goes bankrupt it won’t matter much.
Bank savings/deposits are guaranteed by the government up to 3,000,000 NT$. Stocks are not.
Sure keep telling yourself that…meanwhile I’ve tripled my money in the last 5 years in US markets Apple, Amazon, Google, Neftlix, Microsoft, AMD, Tesla. These companies have more cash on hand than any banks and many nations and probably more stable than most countries financially and produce more value and some give dividends that are 1% in some cases
