Cool he should say ‘WTF waterspout’ though.
Ken Burns Jazz. This came out when I was getting my engineering degree. I would wait in great anticipation for each episode on PBS and get totally lost and forget about the stress of exams for a while. Here’s one of the episodes.
I didn’t know about Britain’s use of Concrete Armoured Lorries in defense from German paratroops during the Battle of Britain. Concrete in lieu of steel, which was in short supply.
Unless it’s very thick, steel isn’t a great barrier to high-powered rifle projectiles. Even then, new bullet types like depleted uranium are designed to defeat even some very thick steels. The best, most economical defense against battle rifles and even small naval rifles (deck-mounted rifles) is probably a hollow wall made of concrete, with the hollow middle filled in with aggregate or even sand. In this case the concrete is only there to give shape to the aggregate/sand. That’s not what the CAL used, but it’s on the right track.
The British have been known to be resourceful in the past
The Mosquito was a pretty good example of that.
400 built in Canada . Lots of wood
Would be interesting to know where these Panzers are today (assuming they were not melted down).
Oooooh I’m excited to share this
If you haven’t watched the Great Big Story channel on YT then get on it. Short stories about all sorts of things.

This showed up in my feed, too. Very interesting and logical account of 3rd century Rome from his point of view, makes me want to read more of the narrator’s writings (the translator comments below the video).
Interesting that while Alexander the Great dominated western Asia in the 3rd century BCE, this Chinese historian seems to be unaware of him (the origin story of Alexandria is pretty amazing, and the possession of Alexander’s supposed remains were used for centuries after his death to sway the rule of Egypt and ancient Syria).
Italian architect renovates grandfather’s barn in Lombardy. Pretty simple, probably inexpensive, nice result.
