Oh yes, it definiteluy works with cats - they use it with chickens, horses, zoo animals…even fish! very successfully - that’s the beauty of this training method. It just might require a bit more patience than with dogs as there is no instinctive desire to please you! (although not all dogs have that either! 
) - and you need to find what really motivates the cat, ie. what food treat it will keen enough on to work for.
