My girlfriend wants to buy Ipod Touch 4th Gen. We looked it from some applestore at ximen and 8gb was aroun 8000NTD and 32gb was around 12000NTD. Can u get a better deal somewhere? We went to carrefour to buy some food and we saw 32gb version there, but it was a old version. We noticed it when we opened it, so we will return it tommorow, it was 10 000NTD.

It’s too bad that u cant buy iphone 4 here without contract, they are selling it in Finland now for 590€ without any contract, and without any simlock etc…I think touch it’s better version coz we both dont have mp3 player here, forgot mine to Finland, and it’s almost same than iphone 4, we can call my Father “in law” trough facetime, he have iphone4, or does it work from touch to iphone?

You can buy an iPhone in Taiwan without a contract, but you still pay around the same money for it…

I hope Carrefour accepts returns on electronic items… most do not unless it’s defective.

That’s where I got mines, it’s 10,700 including delivery (and they even accept COD too). Just whatever you do, if you get a phone call saying “We’re sorry but we think you signed a contract for monthly payments or whatever…” hang up because it’s a scam… but it’s all in Chinese so chances are you won’t know what it says.

Get the VLC media player (now available on Apple App store free) as soon as you get the touch… it plays just about anything under the sun (or so it says) making your touch way more useful. The jailbroken version (vlc4iphone or openstreamer) really sucks compared to this, videos plays very slowly or not at all, not to mention you gotta jailbreak the thing first.

You can buy an iPhone 4 at CHT straight up if you also sign-up for a pre-paid card. There’s no extra charge for the pre-paid card and it includes 4 months of unlimited 3G data. That’s how I got mine.

Hong Kong is also cheaper for ipod, worth checking the duty free shops in HK (cheaper that the price annonced on HK Apple Store)

Is the Iphone 4 sim-locked or not? And dunno if the warranty works when we go back to Finland, We took the old version of Ipod Touch back to carrefour, they didnt give the money back, but they also had 4th version. We changed unused 3rd version to 4th and paid 1000NTD. Now my girlfriend(and me are happy)

ps. We downloaded skype for ipod, it’s possible to use video in skype calls, with skype app.

iPhone 4 sold in TW, HK are SIM unlocked

Skype video not supported yet. The ball is really in Skype’s court there.

In the meantime, if your other friends/family are on Macs, there is FaceTime for Mac.
