Well I’m still gonna go up to immigration next week and go for the extension. I’d rather be here on an extension than break the visa rules regardless… it’s a good fallback though!
Same here.
And here too.
You folks are much closer to d-day than I am (May 5), be sure to post your results.
Will do. ![]()
it says no entry ban but didn’t it say you will lose visa free? that means you would need to leave every 60 days instead of 90. and apply for a visa and wait for it in another country, thats a pain in the ass.
I agree…so I wish I will find a good flight asap.
Guys, just get your damn ARCs. This isn’t the United States; there are so many pathways and its relatively easy.
Is not easy if you can’t be an English teacher.
What the choices is? Get hitched, do the ESL grind, what else?
Aren’t you working online? Many people are in your same situation and have done the following (below). You can set up a Delaware LLC online (don’t need to be a resident) and structure the taxes to be pretty damn competitive (sadly foreigners can’t open a HK account any more).
There are soooooo many jobs in Taiwan aside from teaching English. This isn’t Korea. Lots of companies hire foreigners in product marketing roles for their exports.
Lots of jobs in Taiwan that don’t involve being an ESL monkey/Buxiban bro.
That doesn’t look simple at all lol
I have a really low income so Delaware is not option.
Where I can look for a job in Taiwan? Any website?
Everything needs degrees and stuff.
If your reason to be here is a bf, marriage may solve the future residency issue.
I think this thread has gone beyond its original intent. There are a number of other Visa related threads that would be more suitable to the questions now being raised.
Ok, so situation in the UK is now heading towards lockdown - https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-51981653
After speaking to my parents, they’ve advised me not to come back - so I’m going to take the roll of the dice for the extension, and if it fails, go with the overstay amnesty.
As my dad said “Why on earth would you leave a country that has it under control, to come back to one that is just at the start of disaster?”
Good luck!
Many threads have gone beyond their original intent recently. It’s not ideal, but I’m leaving this one open for now.

The other problem you are going to run into is taxes. You may not owe taxes if you don’t reside in your home country, but that will require you establishing residency elsewhere. You don’t have that in Taiwan, and the non-resident tax rate here is pretty steep.
