The rule of thumb, when dealing with cram school owners and managers, is not to trust a word from their mouths. They will lie, cheat, steal, blame, scream, cry…(you name it) just to get their way. They couldn’t care a f@ck about you even if it means you get deported. They are the scum of the earth so always make sure your ducks are in a row before you agree to anything with them.
Actually, the fines these days are quite high for illegal employment. Many bosses may not realize how high the fines can run. It used to be a slap on the wrist. Not any more.
Life sure was more fun back before Taiwanese started taking laws seriously. Not to mention cheaper. Now it’s turned into just another bland developed country. All the things we liked about Taiwan have slowly faded away.
You forgot the worst bit for workers… it’s quite low paid for a developed country and yet long working hours for many industries. It’s getting a bit better overall but for teachers …nope.

They do not care about you they care whether or not they get fined. That’s it. If you work at Kindy and it’s not even on your work permit address and get caught you’re gone.
