Wondering whether I should get the Smallville DVDs ? Anyone seen it ? The reviews say it’s good, or is it some wishy-washy teen American dribble with annoying “cute” American teenagers (Kristin Kreuk) ?
I do like Superman though and other superheros, and stuff with depth, even if it is silly and unbelievable.

I like Smallvile. You can catch it on two of the dream tv channels. Well worth the buy BFM. BTW, my answer ispretty good shown, not b rilliant or either of the other 2 options

I have liked some of the episodes from the first season, but was never able to really get into any during the subsequent season, the storyline became convuluted (in my opinion) by trying to start a romance between “Clark” and “Lana”, and instead of doing individual episodes with conclusive endings, it became more like a soap opera format. The target audience is definitely teen. Sorry - can’t help you much more than that.

So it’s been awhile and I want to watch this series, does anyone have episodes I can get?

More importantly, is Goodville any small??

I ONLY watch it cos of Kristin Kreuk, who by the way is half Chinese, half Dutch (I think).

Yep. And her family lives in Vancouver.

Does it overcome the inherent boringness of the Superman character?

I mean, an invincible superhero. How exciting. A goody two shoes with the personality of a rock of kryptonite. Batman has his psychotic darkside, Spiderman had his average guy struggling to pay the rent and make it with girls problems…Superman doesn’t have that crucial fallible human element in his makeup.

Yeah, she’s hot but the show gets tiresome. Find myself daydreaming or channel surfing when it’s on. Plus she doesn’t take her clothes off or at least I’ve never seen her naked on the show or a bikini or anything. That would add to it. But then they would just tease me with it and make me tune in for quick skin glimpses of her every 5th episode.

He doesn’t have the Superman persona to blame when he wants to use his powers, he has to take the responsibility of using them. And he has his share of Spider-man type problems, Lana not trusting him because she knows he’s keeping something from her, his best friend leaving because he can’t cope with his secret, Jor-El wanting him to conquer the earth, and doing nasty things to his family if he doesn’t. If you want a psychotic darkside, Lex Luthor has that in buckets with his moral ambiguity.
Yes, I think it does overcome the inherent boringness of the Superman character.

Kristin Kruek has got her kit off once or twice, but yes, it’s just as a tease. And probably a body double.

Fifth season just began in America, and its gotten off to a good start. Got some extra Kryptonians, the Fortress of Solitude and James Marsters (Spike) from Buffy the Vampire Slayer…

Personally, I wasn’t a huge fan of the first two seasons of the show (except for the odd enjoyable episode here and there), but season 3 and 4 were great… I especially loved the closing episodes of both of these seasons.
