Is the production of porn legal in Taiwan for expats? Can you recommend a good lawyer?

If porn is legal to produce in Taiwan, wouldn’t it undermine anti-prostitution laws?

What’s to stop a prostitute running a camera and calming it was pornography?

But this is everywhere. What’s the difference between prostitution and cam sites or only fans?

Porn is well entrenched in Taiwan. Japanese is very popular. “Selling porn” these days is mostly online, and free, bar the hardcore enthusiasts. Readily available additional channels on cable TV. There are still a few physical shops selling porn but mostly poofed away. Expats just need to navigate the laws like any business.

Taiwan girls aren’t the most attractive, experienced, alluring, great presentation, etc… But maybe market could be expanded.

So I heard.

That’s the angle for @Ahriman. He’s not running a porn production company. He’s running a work training program for inexperienced young women who are aspiring performers!

There was/is a/some foreigner doing porn a few years ago. Not sure how legally compliant or successful he was.

Huge supply of experienced talent in Taiwan. Many have a manager/producer and many just wing it on their own in this current farm-to-table internet and app world.

And they want a lot more money than other countries in the region. Like 5x+ more.

Investment is investment!

Money is blue either way!

He’s joking. It’s just a general CPA that helps you open your business. It’s my hand holding my CPA’s business card. I’m recommending him cause he helped me open my company and the service is good.

I’d day this is a no go in Taiwan mainly because locals will get it shut down if it somehow ‘embarrasses Taiwan’

Then they should be worried about the appalling treatment of our Southeast Asian friends and general discrimination of our other foreign friends.

Not really.

There are always niche opportunities, but if you want to do serious, profitable production, you need access to talent and a reasonably accommodative environment.

It sounds like the OP and his friend just want to live in Asia and Taiwan looked like it might pass the “is porn production legal?” filter. In reality, porn is produced everywhere. In countries where it’s of dubious legality or totally illegal, commercial production is almost always an underworld thing that you’re healthier avoiding. Even in places where it’s legal, there can be a lot of shadiness you’d want to avoid, especially if you’re a foreigner with no connections/protection.

This.

If someone wants to do a legitimate business in Taiwan, porn or other, there are opportunities. There might even be startup assistance by gov or non-gov.

I guess you won’t be needing me, then. :octopus:

Okay, seriously folks!

This thread is for discussion of the legality (or lack thereof) of the production of pornography in Taiwan, not for general discussion of pornography. Thank you as always for your cooperation. :rainbow:

Out of curiosity. How does one hire someone for this gig and not call it prostitution. Money for sex seems like a problem right out of the gate.

What if they just offered a guy to have sex with some girl, and consent to be filmed, the guy doesn’t have to pay…

Not “prostitution” if the guy isn’t paying for it.

Technically perhaps. I wouldnt put money on them winning that argument in court though.

In the US it all comes down to the First Amendment.

The distinction is a very fine one and comes down to a string of cases finding that porn performances actually constitute acting subject to the artistic expression protections of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Thus, the distinction is that, at least in theory, porn stars are paid to act and prostitutes are paid for sex.

Your mileage will vary in other countries.

For sure there are girls interested in porn. The questions are how trustworthy we appear, how much money we offer and if we are able to find them and what risk we want to take.

The hit rate to find an actress in an illegal brothel might be pretty high but we wouldn’t be looking there cause we’d get in contact with organised crime what we want to avoid as much as possible. I guess the red light district might only be an option if there are freelancer prostitutes and we are pretty sure that she’s not involved in organised. We would also have to check this with the lawyer to not get in legal trouble if we hire prostitues.

Probably there are model websites where we could start or we could contact model agencies.

We could also go on the street and talk to strangers, but again this would attract the attention of authorities and in general Taiwanese people which we want to avoid, so we would consider this only as an emergency solution.

If you have ideas how we could find girls please let us know

Are you in this for money, pleasure or both? Do you have any experience in this industry anywhere in the world? Do you speak Chinese?

Going to a new country where you don’t know the laws, don’t know the culture, don’t speak the language (?) and have no connections can be an adventure but personally, I think there are much better opportunities than porn in Taiwan and you’re looking at an industry where fun can turn into trouble of various kinds very quickly.

I think most posters here would tell you that your “emergency solution” of trying to talk to random girls on the street and solicit them for porn is a really, really bad idea that isn’t going to end well for you here. Taiwan just isn’t that country.

If you’re serious about this, you should talk to a local attorney and try to make some local connections before you do anything more.

We want to do it for the money, because we like sex and Asian girls and also because we like being artistic, producing films and being our own boss. My friend has a good amount of experience producing and selling porn online and I’m a video producer . We both lived in Thailand for together 13 years already. When we settle down in Taiwan we would also want to learn the language in a school and with the (future) girlfriend, but no, we don’t speak Chinese and it will probably take a while until we do.

Besides of my home country I already lived in India, Thailand, Canada, USA and Switzerland so I already get used to adjusting to a new environment  But you are right, we should still be concerned about not getting into trouble with authorities, the population or the mafia.

What country would you suggest to do porn? Preferably with Asian looking girls.

I can imagine, I wouldn’t do that in Thailand either, maybe only in a very indirect way, after talking a while, when I see she likes me and that she might be open to a topic like that.

That’s very good advice! Currently we are still collecting information and comparing countries. Our next step would be to talk to a local attorney and then we would visit the country as tourists to check everything out.

Taiwan is a country of people with close family ties. Is not Thailand or any south East Asian country. It’s not Europe or the sub continent.

I doubt you will be able to sustain any long term base if performers.

The society is very conservative and is suspicious of anything new. Be warned.
