Is there a formal dismisal procedure for Redundancy?

I recently lost my job as my employer had decided to discontinue the business activity that I was working in for him. I have had no formal notification of this and no compensation (after 51/2 years in the position).

My question is - should he have followed a formal procedure?

You’re looking at a month’s salary per year of service in severance. I went to labor arbitration (a free service) about 10 years ago and ended up getting my severence upped from NT$60,000 to around half a million.

You should also have been given one month’s notice. You are entitled to a month’s salary for the one month’s notice period, even if you were not allowed to work for that month.
