Thinking about leaving Taipei, but NEED a good gym. I’m worrried a smaller city might not have good workout facilities.
What town are you living in?
What gym/gyms are there?
cheers

I hope you get good news on your new town Tealady but in my experience small towns = no gym at all.
Hsinchu is a small town, but it has many gyms.
None of them any good though.

Oh, maybe we better define small town. I would have thought Hshinchu was of a more reasonable size.

I guess I need to clarify what I meant when I said
We’ve got an Alexander’s here in Hsinchu, and though the equipment and facilities are really good, the service staff and “fitness trainers” are your normal so-so standard sadly prevalent in so many service oriented businesses here in Taiwan. Once you signed up, don’t expect a friendly word from any one of the staff memebers.
The equipment, especially the treadmills, steppers, etc. are seldomly cleaned and are drenched in sweat… fresh and old… and unless you use your towel (and you only get one) to clean and wipe off the sweat, none of the staff memebers will. And because you only get one towel, many members prefer to use it for the shower afterwards and not for the workout. No cleaning guy on duty with a bit alcohol/disinfectant and a rag like at California in Taipei.
The fitness trainers are equally… erm… ineffective. Walk around with their oversized shirts trying to sell one-on-one training sessions to the patrons. Bottom line, if you’re not interested in paying extra for their ‘services’, they are not interested in you and will ignore you. Not even a greeting when you walk in.
Alexanders? Good equipment, but badly managed with equally bad service from the hordes of staff members standing around doing absolutely bugger-all. Enough said about Alexanders.
Lastly, in all fairness, the other gyms in Hsinchu are mostly in the 5-star hotels and I cannot give an honest opinion about them. Never used them.

Alexanders is in Windance, top floor. Is that correct?
Correct!
So which Gym in Taibei is good?
