Is there a steady supply of job openings in March?

So what is the job market like for the month of March? I’m graduating in December 2005, but the :loco: school won’t be giving me the diploma until late February. Will it be  , :frowning: , or somewhere in between?

That’s right after Chinese New Year, l believe, and the 2nd semester will be underway already. Not the best time to come BUT you never know your luck in a big city.

I say the time’s always right. But that’s just my POV.

The diploma issue has been mentioned in

[I have a degree.....almost!

(In particular, look to puiwaihin’s posts in the thread.)

I’m in a similar situation, although I don’t expect it to be an issue for me (I’m getting my master’s degree in December, so I have a bachelor’s degree to fall back on if I can’t produce acceptable documents for my most recent degree.)

But, I have a related question: When should I come to Taiwan to look for work?

Before July, before the 183 day tax cut off date. You need to be here for 183 days to get the good tax rate, not the abominibibble 20%.

I’m hoping to start work as early as possible in 2006. How long should I wait to come? I’m assuming beginning of January is bad, so I should wait a few weeks. When will schools first start hiring in 2006?

chinese new year is the end of semester - i don’t have alunar calendar around, but find out when it falls.

if you get here before, you can scope out potential jobs, but will be sitting for a week when CNY actually occurs, as nothing is open. or you can come over right after, and there should be places still looking for someone.

if you are interested in living/working in taoyuan (40 minutes SW of taipei), drop me a PM and i’ll see if there’s any way that i can help. a few places need teachers year round.

There are always a few jobs in Taipei or in Kaohsiung.

Just come over,
find yourself a place to live.

Look around on Tealit, Forumosa, Taiwan Ho websites or in the English newspapers (China Post, Taiwan News, Taipei Times, …), make some phone calls, do some interviews and you will land yourself a few jobs.

600 NT dollar an hour would be a nice start.

My 2 cents.

Don’t kick me, but I forgot to mention that I’m Chinese-American. I was born in Vietnam, and we immigrated to the U.S. when I was 7. I hope they have a market for people who are fluent in Cantonese and know a little Mandarin.
