Is whitey's niceness in SE Asia being taken advantage of?

Yeah , probably be cause it’s a big chunk of hours near to their home. If it’s 4 hours per morning every morning and a resident working visa involved it maybe worth it. They might just be here because they ant to learn Chinese but can’t afford it without working ……..The standard would be 700 and up. For Taiwanese teachers they shouldn’t be on less than 500 and above. Schools are likely maling 3 to 5000 and hour before paying the teachers, AC, office staff etc

I am not a teacher, but for a full time job 700$ seems ok (168 hours x 700= about 110,000) which is ok in Taiwan , not for Ireland. I guess in Thailand 110,000 a month is also good.

Ireland’s minimum per gour wage is something like 3x Taiwan.
No wonder half of India is trying to move there.
But it’s still less than 600 nt an hour. But that’s for ANY job, teaching English isn’t actually as easy a job as people say. If you tried to reach English for 40 hours a week it’s actually almost impossible to do well and also not burn out.
It’s really draining over a certain number of hours.
Anyway teaching isn’t a great gig in Taiwan anymore , everybody knows this.
Young uns go to Cambodia and Vietnam and have fun on the cheap. Some go to China just to eke out a bit more money.

Why bother with Taiwan, hence I rarely see young white looking English teacher anymore, hardly ever hear Canadian or Aussie or British accents or meet any groups anywhere like the old days.

if they are here it’s usually to learn Chinese or study an MBA or whatever. Or they are public school teachers, but since they work on their own you never see groups of them anywhere.

It doesn’t work like that. That is for part time teaching hours not office hours. A part time teacher is on 15 to 25 hours a week. When it goes over that they’ll offer a fixed salary not based on hours.
