IT Monitoring at Work by Employer - Is It Legal?


Is it legal for a company to ‘spy’ on the IT usage of its employees? i’m thinking more about compiling list of websites opened, times on each, files opened and closed on an individual’s PCs etc…

I am very aware that you agree to the companies IT policies when starting to only use for work purposes etc, but how is it for Taiwanese companies?

I use my work PC for non work stuff every now and again (news, sports etc)… nothing i would be ashamed of, nothing illegal, and nothing i wouldnt be nervous about if my boss called me into his office.

But i heard that here in Taiwan, its illegal for companies to track IT usage / private emails / private electronic chats between employees. is this right?

Just want to get my facts straight and be well informed.
