I’ve read through the postings on vaccinations, but still have a question.
I’ll be coming to Taiwan for an indefinate stay in about a month, and on the basis of what the local health clinic here (I’m currently in USA) and the postings here say, I’m pretty much decided to get the Jap. B encephalitus vaccine.
But I’m wondering whether to get it here (will run about $US 300) or wait until I get to Taiwan, where I suspect it might be cheaper and where, if something goes wrong, I’ll have medical insurance (which, like a lotof people here, I don’t have).
There are some specific postings on this vaccination. Did you read those?
You may find it difficult to get the Japanese B Encephalitis vaccination here, as it’s generally given to children, not to adults. To be safe I think you’d better have it done there. 300 USD sounds on the pricey side though. In the UK I got mine for around 40 UKP.
I’m also curious to know if the vaccine’s available in Taiwan for adults. Can anyone comment on this? And is it possible to get the vaccine in August/September? (The literature online indicates that it’s only available March-May.)
Thanks for the help!
