Hi all
What are the odds that a Japanese that cant speak mandarin yet to get a job? Was thinking about japanese language teaching as seems that taiwan have a lot of these language schools, but do you need to be fluent in mandarin in the first place to get hired?
Many thanks
If you want to teach language, it might actually be to your advantage that you can’t speak Mandarin. In most schools there is a massive emphasis on never using Mandarin (when teaching English). In fact teachers could lose their jobs if students complain about them using Mandarin in class. I’m sure there are a few places where you could teach Japanese. I don’t know about qualifications and that kind of thing though. Try some of the language schools.

I have a Japanese in my building working in the tech industry. I don’t think he speaks Mandarin, his family seems to be able to speak some…
Japanese with Mandarin? Office jobs at tech companies, banks, service like travel agents, news outlets -radio, magazines -like my ex roomie. I’d even try Daiso. Not only teaching, but if you like that, I am actually amazed at how even the small buxibans will offer Japanese lessons, being a Native is a plus.
Wouldn’t it be easier if the Japanese individual apply for work at a Japanese Company that have an office in Taiwan?
