Wow…great first night out. The bar has been set high!

Hotel in Taipei for two nights.
Meeting old friends at Vinyl Decision.
Running late so took a taxi.
Driver is jumpy and twitchy like Cowboy Neal, and barefoot.
About to ask him Ni hai hao ba?
But figured, if he’s barefoot, he’s good to go.
VD is the place to be, out of a Murakami novel. Pretty sure The Rat was there in spirit.
Got a Steal Your Face button because Mark likes to make buttons and give them away.
Taiwanese guy came in and bought a Lao Ing album…ended up being Eagles Live double album, the first album I ever owned. Coincidence or irony…or supernatural mystery?
Got caught up tight and met the UK arm wrestling 140lb champ of yore.
Headed home in the rain but not before eating a whole chicken.

Taiwan, indeed!

Do they have food, been meaning to check it out.

I don’t know actually. They have beer, bitters and Taiwan microbrews.

I can’t stress enough how much I enjoyed the place. It’s on the bucket list of places to return to now. I’d be there now if he were open.

Vinyl Decision used to have some small snacks like chicken and things or something

Day two of freedom;

17,500 steps.
I noticed walking around Taipei Main Station that I’ve worked just about everywhere.
CKS Memorial is nice and quiet in the rain.
The taxi driver stretched out his painful arthritis.
228 park is not what it used to be in the dark in the day.
Sentimentality abounds the Taipei downtown.
Meet with my wife the wife of a good good friend, and then left the wives to it.
Off to raucous Shrlin!
The MRT is really one of the best in the world.
The night market doesn’t age.
Da Dong Rd made me laff.
Professional Beaver salon was out of business.
Pot Burn Noodles exemplifies Taiwanese comfort food.
The met the Big Boss, the Boss and a valued minion for good talks over beers and fries.
Back to the world class COSMOS for a well earned respite.
I remain humbled by the generosity of good people. :bowing:

You ain’t fully done Taiwan 'til you’ve had some stinky tofu at some small hole-in-the-wall cantina.

I sometimes pass by a restaurant that has this (in English) on the signage. Googling yields no good info - what are pot burn noodles?

I did that when I left. It’s not something you do when you come back.

I’m going to say noodles on a supper hot iron plate…maybe? :idunno:

Translation:
Pot Stickers (锅贴)

Are they gyoza?

:idunno:

guōtiē

Wife says nah, it’s noodles on a hot cast iron plate a la the cheap Wo Jia Niao Pi shit places.

:notworthy:

Stuff on a hot cast iron plate is all the rage lately.

It’s the sizzzzzle. Waaaaa…so kooo

And pretty fire.

Pot Burn Noodles = 鍋燒麵 - noodles in soup, can be egg noodles or udon or perhaps other noodles. Often looks like nabeyaki.

Trying to do something new each day…not just eating but damn that is hard to manage.

American food is really crap.

So, my brother in law and I went to the Royal Foot and had foot massages…knee down. The tiny Chinese gal did a number on my sore calves. I asked her if she was a bowler as her fingers were like steel.

Then I ate way too much fatty pork.
