"Jeffu" and new book: MEN AND SEX

I just went into a bookstore and was astounded to see a new book by that ICRT and TV poster boy with the gel hair, Jeff Locker,

Did you actually read the cover? Maybe since the word WOMEN isn’t on the cover it’s about MEN and SEX.
There are plenty of closet queens in this city, that’s for sure. And on this website. So it wouldn’t surprise me none.

I don’t care if he’s gay, straight, bi or virginal. He’s still a tosser.

Brian

Where can I get an English copy ?

AHA! I see Sir Don has obviously already read chapter 3.

Way to go with that new book Jeff! If people here didn’t think you were a completely exploitative, media hungry idiot before, they will now.

The English title of Jeff Locker’s latest book is “Men & Sex.” But the Chinese version is much more provocative:“Hot, Lusty Man’s Diary.”

The blurb at the site formosa linked will make you puke. It says stuff to the effect that “jeffu’s book is based on his personal experiences. The book discusses cross-cultural romances, internet dating, one-night stands, affairs, watching porno videos, kissing, breaking up, divorce” … “jeffu lays bare the explosive secrets of the dangers of sex and love.” And it claims this book is “the perfect love manual to give to young people.” :unamused:

The blurb mentions that jeffu has had lots of sexual experiences, has had girlfriends from all over the world, and has accumulated lots of understanding about love, blah, blah, blah. {maybe ironlady can help with a complete, more accurate translation}

BTW: Maybe you can ask him yourself. Here on forumosa someone registered the username jefflocker on August 22. Could be a troll. Or it could be real. Who knows? No posts made yet, but an email address was given. Or you can go to the ICRT site and get his email address there.

According to his profile:

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I figure that having seen some of Jeffu’s stuff on the market, the above (especially the “blah, blah, blah” part) is probably as accurate as anyone could get… :unamused:

My guess, amateur as it is, and totally uninformed, is that Jeffu is running away from his problems in the USA, saw some stuff like this on the Net once a while back, a letter to his mother, and his mom’s letter to him, seems that it isn’t so much that jeffu could not make in the USA, i think he could make it anywhere, he IS a talented performed and funnyman, and he could make it in USA radio or TV, music TV especially, but I think that in Asia, far from home and family, his gayness is not a problem and his family doesn’t even know about it. He doesn’t have to come out to them, because he is a star here.

Amd here, nobody cares if he is gay, and actually, most Taiwanese don’t know. The high school girls who love him don’t. So he is home free here and life is good.

i just hope he doesn’t crash and burn here someday, that would be sad. As long as he keeps up his public face and persona, he can go far here, as he has already, this Yalie rebel with the hidden story, but he can only rise so far, he is always the foreign monkey, like Chocolate and the rest of them.

This book is just so funny. We know, and he knows. But his fans don’t know a thing. I met a girl last night, junior college student, said she loved Jeffu and thinks he’s cute. When I told her many people say he is gay, she looked incredulous: NO WAY, she said. IMPOSSIBLE.

See?

Well, like others have said above, gay schmay, it doesn’t matter which team he bats for, the main thing is: is he for real? That’s my question.

If he is, more power to him. If he is playing a game, it will come to haunt him later on , even now, and he will never find true happiness.

Not that anyone else will find TH, true happiness, but it’s better to approach life with honesty and sincerity, no? Just my two rupees!

:unamused: :unamused: :unamused: Who says that he is gay? For that matter, so what if he is!!! Gay or not it’s none of my business.

Formosa, you are reading Waaaaaaaaaay too much into this. To quote the Taiwanese, “You think too much”.

We know and he knows, what rubbish, we know nothing for sure and should keep our mouths shut until we do and even after we do know we should probably keep our mouths shut too.

You think too much and type too much

Bassman, you are right. I take it all back.

If ultra-gay Dan Savage can make a mint by giving advice to billions of straight people each week, why can’t this guy? Of course, we don’t know if Jeff is really gay like Dan Savage, I mean, it is just terrible, damning gossip of course. There’s lots of non-monk, straight foreign men who have never taken up having a local girlfriend, even if they’ve lived here for 10 years and even if the women here are considered some of the sexiest in the world.

He sounds like a good businessman to me. We laugh, but I am sure he laughs all the way to the bank. I just hope the advice in the book is good, unlike some of the crap I found in Chocolate’s diet book. (Which I bought for amusement purposes only.)

It’s not his sexuality, it’s just that he’s arse. Pun intended!

Today, he was on ICRT and asked people to phone in and give him some English phrases or words related to the topic, “Love, Sex and Relationships.” The first guy to phone in said “homosexuality.” Given the discussion on this group, it made me laugh milk through my nose (well, it would have had I been drinking milk).

I’ve always thought that Jeff was gayer than a May parade, but that doesn’t matter in assessing his written works. The English books are of no educational value. They are just fanciful little reads. I would never buy one, but if they guy knows how to exploit this little market to his benefit, I say more power to him. He provides me with an ocassion to laugh, at least.

If you met me you’d probably say the same thing especially if you saw me teaching. After watching my own demo videos for teaching youngsters I come away thinking “That looked so gay”, not that there is anything wrong with that, it’s just that I’m not gay.

TOMASO wrote: “The English books are of no educational value. They are just fanciful little reads. I would never buy one, but if they guy knows how to exploit this little market to his benefit, I say more power to him.”

Actually, Tomas, I don’t think JEFFU does this marketing himself or even plans it. His management team gets together with a major publisher over cocktails at the Lai Lai and they say “HEy, with Jeff’s visibility in taiwan with young girls especailly, let’s do a series of books on English, with cute photos on front. They will sell.” So they make a contract with Jeff, he writes some of it, maybe, a ghostwriter writes the rest of it, the editor puts it all in shape, the PR people promote the fuck out of it, and everyone makes money. Jeff is just the engine pulling the locomotive of commerce, but the other guys probably put the deal together. I don’t think he ever ever ever planned to be writing books here. It’s all just to further his "career"and he obviosuly thinks he will be like a Jacky Wu super star someday. No way. He will be forgotten soon enough, like all other atoah faces, like Chocolate and everyone else.

But hey, if the books are good little reads, that’s cool. I can’t read them, so i have no idea what they are about. I guess they are just fan magazines in book form, so to speak. My guess is that they sell in the 50,000 unit range. Not bad for Taiwan. Jeff prob makes about NT$100,000 for each book. Peanuts. His real money income is from radio and TV shows. THe books are just the stuffing in the, er, turkey.

But hey, more power to him, if he is happy doing what he does. he may even be lurking here and yeh, Jeffu, just kidding, we love ya. Keep on trucking, man!
Keep on trucking, man!
I think you misspelt something there matey.

typos, typos. LOL~
