I am a jewelry designer and I am trying to find a good shop that sells sterling silver findings, clasps, ear wires, wire, crimp beads, etc. If you’ve been in a bead shop in North America you know what I’m looking for!
I’ve been here for about three years and just ran out of some of my most crucial supplies. I am hoping to avoid astronomical shipping charges imposed by U.S. companies (although the selection can’t be beat).
Anyone know where I can go? I saw some posts about this from about 2 years ago, but am thinking maybe some new places popped up since then. Also, they didn’t have actual addresses. Although I’ll take anything! Vague directions, bus numbers, landmarks, whatever. Also fellow bead lovers feel free to PM me!
How about the jewelry supply stores at the week-end jade market under the Jian Kuo South Road expressway? They seem to have all kinds of little things necessary for jewelry making.
There is one store with beading stuff near the Dihua market: Taipei, Yanping N.Rd, sec2, #79, 1-2F, 2555-3298. The shop sign has “DIY” in it, for easier spotting. open 9-9, 7 days
I don’t think you can find sterling silver on Yenping, just “craft wire” and have never found nice sterling beads here.
THere is a website I found by accident calystar.com and she sells Sterling silver wire and beads but the wire is pretty expensive.
If you go to the Jade Market, you should be able to find Thai silver beads there (99.9%) Somebody told me about a supplier she found there but I lost some emails recently including the address she gave me.

There are lots of shops around the Yanping North Road area - try the corner with Changan west road (there is a pretty good 2 story DIY shop there just passed the police station).
To be honest though the best thing to do is just go for a walk around the area as there are loads of DIY jewlery shops (look for the DIY signs or there will be displays in the windows).
I was looking to see if anyone knew where i can get parts to make jewelry, i.e. beads, clasps, metal bangles, beading strands. like a michael’s arts and crafts store in the U.S., but much more jewelry centric. thanks
There’s a string of little shops specializing in this, starting on the NE corner of Yanping Rd. (if I recall correctly) & Civic Blvd. in Taibei, and running north from there for about a block. If you need bulk seed beads, PM me.
