In particular, from my profs at school, that TX mandates scripted lesson plans. I also have heard TX and NY schools disparaged quite a bit in general and for rough situations like gangs and drugs where I might not like my son to attend.

However, I should qualify this hearsay by pointing out that one of my classmates teaches at a school in Little Rock, AR where there are kids who were convicted of murder in her classes. Convicted as children of chilling crimes, they have done their time in juvenile prison and are back to school again. Kids generally don’t come out of lock down any better off than grown-ups do. The other children and their parents, of course, have no idea what these other kids have done/been through.

NY city, maybe; also some of the upstate cities. But in the suburbs, there wouldn’t be those concerns, most likely.
