No, this will not work. You think the Dept. of Labor officials haven’t heard of this excuse before? A foreigner working as a volunteer? Yeah right! This excuse won’t cut it & you WILL be fined & deported once you’re caught. Don’t believe a word your cram school tells you unless you see the Work Permit and ARC with your own eyes.
Yes. I read that I need a work permit even as a volunteer. If they already lied to me about the “volunteer” thing, should I still proceed? They agreed, FOR NOW, that I won’t teach until the permit is released. But I am a bit concern that they might force me to teach while waiting for the permit in the next few weeks. Can they use the fact that they have a copy of my passport and ARC, and currently processing my work permit, to threaten me or something?
