Just sold this (Ninja 636R) changed for KTM 640lc4 SM

Sounds like a winner, but as Stian says you can’t take them on the highway… Bummer. Seems like a 600 is on the cards.

But this is all speculation, I don’t have that much loose change to spend on what is essentially a toy. Not right now, anyway… :frowning:

But one can speculate and dream…[/quote]

You can’t take any bikes on the highways…it’s only the expressways that allow over 550. BUT…I ride my scooter on the expressways daily. It’s the quickest and safest way for me to get to work. I’ve never gotten a ticket for it. And even if I did…I hear the ticket is like 600nt.

And when I ride my 650cc Ninja…I very rarely go on the expressways. They are boring and windy with no scenic value.

So I wouldn’t let expressways be the end all when deciding.

Good point. I’ve been down to Kenting on the scooter a few times, and I like that route, so your point is very valid.

I almost bought one of these in black three years ago but I couldn’t stump up the cash and had to go for a 2002 636. I’d love to get one now. You are a lucky man. This is one of few bikes I would swap my CPI for.

Yes, so I could not get comfortable on the Ninja ( The idea of having your face smashed first in case of an accident due to the riding position made me drive slower than I would on a scooter). The riding position was just not for me. I was always a SM guy. So I got my dream bike this time ( still looking at the Duccati Hypermotard but that is way too expensive)

So here it is.

Good switch. Today’s sportbikes are so track focused that riding them on the streets (or shitty Taiwan track) just become frustrating and unpleasant. You’ll get a lot more satisfaction from the KTM!

Yep, I drove it 10 minutes today and it felt like being at home in my sofa. Mountains… here I come (again)

It also has an Akrapovich pipe line and an over-sized carburator.

welcome to the KTM club…I had a couple of them (SMC660, Superduke, LC4SM. Duke II)in the past 3 yrs but just use my Duke II now…

Ducati is coming out with a cheaper version – the Hypermotard 796…you can also try the 2010 Husky SM 630 next year…

Same guy have a Husky SM610 2008 model but 2009 bought with only 800km for sale too higher price but almost new bike

What u guys think? Does it worth taking a look at? Are these easy to service (finding parts)

Two oil filters, no waiting. I love KTMs, I do, I just don’t like the heavy maintenance. They really are race bikes. My fav is the 300 EXC, but for street use, the big 4 stroke thumpers make more sense.

Saw those in Taipei the husky 2008 for 400 000 k (negotiable) seems like a good deal. If you need help, let me know, the owner of the shop is one of my friend’s friend

Why is the much older KTM price is almost same as Husqvarna. They are about same cc Whats the catch?

the KTMs were all imported directly from overseas by importers in Taiwan so each bike had to be sent for insepction and that added a lot on the base price of the bikes…

Husky has an official dealer in Taiwan and they just send one bike from the whole lot for inspection…Huskys you can get brand new and with 2 yrs official fty warranty…

yes, yes yes, The best fucking bike I have ever had… I had to tell myself to slowdown because I was so happy to have it… I got Omeroj to drive it back home to make sure it would get there safe . Thanks Puss

Went to the track today with the new KTM and I was drifting the bike after 10 minutes. Just a great machine. If you ever get the chance to buy one ( at a good price), don’t hesitate.

Here is the picture of the beast. Took it to the racetrack yesterday and it was all that it was supposed to be.

It is like you are driving a BMX but with 640cc of power under. Yahoo

 I don’t have a license to ride one yet. Now i know why speed_maniac suggest this instead of getting smaller cc

Doesn’t worth spending the money on a small displacement KTM

Maybe play with a 150cc SYM for 8 months until i can get the heavy moto license. :frowning:

This thing is sick…and the sound while on the track behind it has to be heard to be believed.

Awesome… :sunglasses:
