I searched and could not find a recent list of kaohsiung hotspots. Does anybody have one? Can’t get a card for my phone, not ready to rent one of those mobile thingies. Any help appreciated!

Do you mean places where you can link onto free govt Wifi hotspots?
Do you mean hotpots, the restaurant style?
Do you mean hot spots where all the cool cats hang out?
No.1 (Public WIFI hotspots) seems most likely, since he mentions phone cards and mobile (hotspot) thingies 
There’s free wifi at all Kaohsiung Rapid Transit stations.
Hotspots at all government offices and public schools, too.
Just stand outside one to search for something like iTaiwan
