Kaohsiung MRT

I posted my take on that here, and totally botched the link

Something oddly familiar about this biggest Catholic church in North America.

Kaohsiung had the idea before this church but who had it before Kaohsiung.

Just a PSA that there is going to be quite a few station name changes on the KMRT effective in about a month when the new station opens. I’ve listed them below, so our fellow K-towners don’t get lost when the time comes.

  • Sizihwan will be renamed Hamasen
  • City Council will be renamed Cianjin
  • Martial Arts Stadium will be renamed Lingya Sports Park
  • Gangshan South will be renamed Kaohsiung Medical University Gangshan Hospital
  • Nanzih Export Processing Zone will be renamed Nanzih Technology Industrial Park

When I was recently in K-Town, I also noticed the numbering scheme on the maps looked like some changes were coming. O1, O2, O4 . . . or something like that, indicating that a new station was coming.

Pray tell, will there actually be a Hamasen (currently the mendaciously named “Sizihwan”) extension into Sun Yat-sen University? That would make the most sense—to correct to stupidity of the initial design.

I hope they build a new station under the campus! But that is not currently in the plans. That would just be way too convenient.
