Kaohsiung, places to hang around in the city?

Hi. Last time visited Fo Guang shan (very nice place) and the beach area (going with the ferry).
This time going back and would like to hang around in the city that we didn’t see much before.
No sightseeing stuff but just nice districts to walk around and have meals and coffee. What area do you recommend in the city?

Cijin District is pretty fun to walk around in, it’s a long island off the Kaohsiung mainland.

You can try the area around Pier 2 and Banana Pier, if you get fed up of the docks just get a city bike and head towards central park, or there is a nice park but not many shops near weiwuying (MRT orange line).

Central Park Underground (Metro-Rail) station. At night lots of light shows in the Park… Nearby is the youth area 新掘江 (Shin-Jay-Jung , not Saint Johnny John as the bad public transport will say in English) Best to go ask dark there, not much action durning the day. https://www.englishintaiwan.com/shopping-in-taiwan/kaohsiung-city-liu-shin-jue-jiang-shopping-market Its like old Hsi-Men-Ding in Taipei.
From there at night you walk to the love river and see the night time lights.

Central Park, Pier 2, Aozihdi park area (where Arkansas diner is!), Hanshin Arena (informally just Kaohsiung Arena) in Zuoying, Art Museum area, are all cool.

If you have to prioritize, then do a day in Pier 2.

Ktown really has been developing. I agree pier 2. Aozhidi/zuoyin towards the art museum (behing the park) has a lot of newer shops that are more fancy/high end but not all super posh. Its changing a lot in those areas.

If want a good ol fashioned kaohsiung feel, Fanfshan (sp?) Is always good for that.
