Kayaks, Canoes, Good Inflatables

Does anyone know where I can find a decent selection of kayaks or canoes for sale in Taiwan? I live in the balmy South and don’t know what’s available on the big streets of Taipei.

Thanks for any tips.

Have you considered ordering a folding yak from overseas? Also, several places sell kits and plans for making your own (tube-and-skin from George Dyson, or stitch-n-glue from Pygmy, to name just two – both in Washington state, USA.)

RT Mart in Xinzhu sells Ocean Kayaks (sit-on-tops) and also used to have a cheap inflatable twin seater for sale. I imagine there should be more of that stuff down south than up here… ? Xpet.

Considering the amount of rain we have been gettin, you shouldn’t have a difficult time time…

I just spent a month paddling around Taiwan in a sea kayak. The company that sponsored me, Paddle Around International, is a small local company that sells all sorts of kayaks, gear, and offers courses (Chinese only). From what I understand, they import most of their boats from New Zealand.

Anyway, they’re a great bunch of guys - you can find them at www.kayak.com.tw (again, only Chinese).

The owner, John, speaks excellent English however and he loves what he does. His mobile: 0927-773-587

Good luck,
