Though sadly it means the deceased mayor wouldnt be able to avail himself the benefit of the recent party rule changes in the wake of Ma’s own indictment. He had only been convicted at the first instance so far.
He is best known nationally for his involvement in a corruption scandal relating to a land procurement deal for the Keelung City Government’s bus department.

The deal was later called off, after the city council suspected wrongdoing and referred the case to prosecutors, whose investigation centered on Hsu.

The Keelung District Court sentenced Hsu to seven years in prison, after finding him guilty of corruption for trying to sell a piece of his own land to the city’s bus department at a large profit.

Hsu was kicked out of the KMT after his conviction in September, although he maintained his position as mayor.

He had protested his innocence until his death and had said he would appeal the ruling, a move that kept him out of prison under the Taiwanese legal system.
Well, it would appear that there was a lot of wailing on the television channels yesterday, would any of you know if ma was singled out for any “blame” for this “tragic” death?

They are going to blame the DPP … for coming to power and therefor the rules had to be changed … anyways, noone is to blame for all the partying he did and all the unhealthy food he ate and drank too much …
They are going to blame the DPP … for coming to power and therefor the rules had to be changed …
Ha ha… That’s just a generalization. We all know it’s actually A-Bian’s fault. He’s to blame for everything and anything that’s wrong in Taiwan today. A China Post editorial writer, during the depose Chen campaign, claimed that the suicide rate has increased because people have lost hope thanks to A-Bian - no data cited. Must have been a ‘hunch’. A university (name withheld) graduate student angrily informed me that the economy is in a major slump because of A-Bian. The question, “What sector is suffering the most?” failed to bring a reply.
