Keith Olbermann suspended indefinately from MSNBC

MSNBC President Phil Griffin suspended him for violating company policies regarding political donations. From Politico.
MSNBC host Keith Olbermann has been suspended indefinitely without pay after POLITICO reported that he made three campaign contributions to Democratic candidates.

MSNBC President Phil Griffin said in a statement Friday: “I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay."

Olbermann made campaign contributions to two Arizona members of Congress and failed Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway ahead of Tuesday’s election.

Olbermann, who acknowledged the contributions in a statement to POLITICO, made the maximum legal donations of $2,400 apiece to Conway and to Arizona Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords. He donated to the Arizona pair on Oct. 28 — the same day that Grijalva appeared as a guest on Olbermann’s “Countdown” show.

NBC has a rule against employees contributing to political campaigns, and a wide range of news organizations prohibit political contributions — considering it a breach of journalistic independence to contribute to the candidates they cover.
That’s some bullshit. Griffin and MSNBC can kiss my ass. Plenty of other people do it and don’t get suspended. Its just a naked power grab on his part. Sad and disgusting.

He must be the worst person in the world.

Ohhhh, he donated money to campaigns… how horrible. How evil. People who donate money to campaigns must be weeded out. Only corporations are allowed to do that.

As there appears to be some comprehension difficulties with SteveF and Chris, I’ll re-post this little bit:

Having attempted to make that contract plum more palatable, I will say that I do not agree with this punishment on NBCs’ part.
I think that this donations should simply be made publicly known prior to each broadcast in which Mr. Olberman expresses his political opinions.

No he broke a corporate contract. he was supposed to inform his superiors if he was going to donate to a political party. doesn’t it make him a hypocrite that he chewed out fox for donating to the repubs while he himself went out of his way and donated? Oh the irony. MSNBC was just probably finding a reason to can his ass anyway.

yeah, that’s why he was back on the air after two days.

must have good lawyer then. Olbermann’s main audience is exactly the same type as Oreilly’s, just only liberal.

which just makes him a hipocrite. notice most of thoses are fox contributors not actual permanent employees of fox? point is they followed their contract in terms of political donations while olbermann didn’t. besides it doesn’t make a difference especially media corps give free campaigning for their respective left/right wing parties. olbermann’s prose and use of pathos is nearly identical to that of oreilly, only difference is that hes a democrat.

I would say that Olbermann is the more truthful of the two.

Now you are just trolling.

Here, I’ve dumbed it down for you and separated the list to only mention ‘permanent employees’ since this is such a sticking point with you.

NBC is owned by GE, this is why the donation rule is in place.

No I’m not arguing if it’s “right” for media hosts or media companies to donate money to political parties, honestly I could care less and they give more political contribution on their shows anyway. Olbermann broke a clause in his contract and got punished for it SIMPLE AS THAT.
