Kendo Armor (Bogu) in Taipei

Does anyone know where I can buy Kendo equipment in Taipei? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, not in Taipei, in Kaohsiung, post anyway in case anyone else is looking. Our kendo club buys all our equipment at a little shop on Xinhai road (sorry, can’t type Chinese on this computer… actually I never saw the street sign - but maybe “New Ocean”). It’s really hard to find, out of the way (my friend took me by scooter and took a while to find it) but it’s a really good shop. Seems like the guy who runs it is very experienced. I saw a number 91 bus there, so you could just get that - it’ll be easy to find with a map anyway. Prices are cheaper than a lot of places, good quality and has everything. I bought a nice hakama (the most expensive one) shinai and shinai bag for 4150. I’m not sure how much the armor is, someone in my club told me 8000, someone else said 10000.

Let me know if you want a more precise address, but going to Taipei for the weekend, so you’ll have to wait until then.

I have seen kendo gear at this Taipei martial arts store, and I should add, the older guys running the place have always been friendly and helpful which is a marked contrast to many Taiwanese retail establishments.

The place is called Ta Zhong Martial Arts Supplies at
Nan Chang Street, Section 1, Number 89
phone no. (only Chinese spoken, I would guess) 2321-7165 and/or
2321-2865

Thanks so much! I’ll check both places out.

My friend tell me the address today, and I write it in English to you.
The address and name of that great store are as follows:

1F., No.24, Lane 124, Jyuguang Rd.,
Jhonghe City, Taipei County 235, Taiwan (R.O.C.)

I don

They have a full suit of antique armor down the road from Alleycats. It’s got a pair of deer antlers on the helmet… Guess it’s not the kind of armor you’re looking for. Think they have some cool swords there, too.
