Kenjutsu, Ninjutsu or Kendo classes in Taipei?

Does anyone know a studio or trainer for Kenjutsu or Ninjutsu classes in Taipei?
Kendo would be cool, too.

Thanks!

Can mods move this to the martial arts forum?

Go to the martial arts store across from CKS memorial hall and ask about kendo. One of the highest level guys outside of Japan teaches near there and students get there equipment from that place.

hey thanks!!

There are Kendo classes at the ChungShan Sports Centre near the ChungShan MRT station. I used to go watch it after I went swimming there.

some Taiwanese guys are really good at Kendo (world class level). there is a thriving scene.

equipment is expensive.

For ninjitsu (and of course for karate) you’d be much better off coming over to my place, Okinawa.

and I didn’t know we had a marital arts forum? :astonished:

Just how expensive is a decent set of kendo gear in Taiwan? If it’s too expensive, then I’ll have to bring my equipment from home adding severely to the weight of my luggage.

blue smock and pants, and beginners split bamboo sword, NT$2500

mask and chest guard, NT$10,000 and up (way, way up).

thanks urodacus! that’s about what I would have expected. Not cheap but not too expensive either.

Where might I find used or budget priced kendo gear for kids? My daughter takes kendo at her elementary school and I just got a letter telling me that they will no longer be supplying the gear and I must purchase for 11,000NT$. It’s a required class so I have little choice.
